It's not really as simple as that. If you have an autoimmune condition then a vaccine could harm you. For healthy people it's fine if it's something that they need to do to protect themselves.

Edit: Dr Mercola is well-respected for his opinions, I do read his website.

I've had one for years the only time I missed it I got the flu which played havoc with my asthma.

Trouble is, that website is written with nothing but scare mongering in mind. He may be correct about the majority of flu deaths being due to pneumonia. However it is a direct result and complication of influenza infection. So the vaccine by reducing or removing the level of influenza infection it also prevents secondary or additional infections such as pneumonia.
For a doctor he knows remarkably little about virology and how infections work.
I'm afraid on the flu vaccine that bloke is an idiot with a very clear agenda.
Sorry if people don't like that, but go do some proper research rather than reading the writings of a crank.

Dr Mercola is an osteopath and has studied nutrition (not sure what level).. not sure what else he's published but Is he really qualified to pass such an opinion which may effect peoples health?

I feel a bit weird about flu vaccines. As a clinician, working in an exposure prone environment I support vaccines like this and having had flu as a teen, and swine flu when that was loose, I never want it again... That said, when i have the flu jab I'm always left feeling hungover/ sore skin for a few weeks after. Occupational health insist this is coincidence, but the only time I've ever felt like this is after every flu jab. That said, I'm quite sensitive to medication, so i assume it is a sensitivity rather than a reaction?

I've been having the flu vaccine for a very long time as I'm in an 'at risk' group. I haven't had the flu and it hasn't made me ill, affected my mental capacity (I've always been this daft) and my limbs haven't dropped off.

The fact that this was posted on THIS forum is genuinely amusing me.

My personal experience is that flu jabs can make you feel off colour for 24 hours or so, but flu followed by pneumonia makes you feel distinctly off colour for a couple of months.

It's not safe!!

It makes your arm ache for minutes!

Flu is much less inconvenient

Well first off it would blame immigrants for bring over their stinking viruses and putting hard working British viruses out of a job.

Then it would run a 6 page exclusive on how foreign viruses were claiming asylum and being given the pick of all the best British hosts whilst native viruses were left destitute hanging around on door knobs just waiting for a host.

It would then suggest that Diana was really killed by a foreign virus...

in the same way the Dr Gillian McKeith is well respected....

To quote the department of health -
“Last winter more than 10 million doses of flu vaccine were given out across the NHS in England. There were just 0.004 per cent reports of side-effects. Most side-effects from the flu vaccine are not serious.”

A quick Google would suggest the number of deaths 'possibly' associated with the flu jab is usually less than 10 per year. These deaths are due to asthma attacks and chest infections. I struggle to see how the flu jab is responsible as 10 out of 10 million are likely to die from those causes given that people suffering those problems are targeted for the jab.

I have asthma and get the flu jab and have already had a pneumonia jab. It would seem daft not to as flu is absolutely horrible.

Well I had the flu jab on friday, 2hrs later the alternator went on my car. You might say thats not connected but i'm not taking the chance next year.
