MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
So it's down for maintenance this Friday for a few hours. What's the betting on their plans:
a) Continue the current dumbing down eg maybe slowing it by another factor of 10, removing all photo tags, automatically adding random filters to your photos, cropping every thing in a square format and randomly deleting half your sets
or
b) Maybe listen to the paying subscribers and reverse back a bit to how it was before they completely broke everything
Answers on a post card...
It's not completely broken.... Guess they could completely balls it up. You know, just for a laugh.
Can't see them doing a volte face though (unless some high up people have sacked....).
They might realise that not everybody has a fast connection and enough bandwidth. Must admit that I've gotten used to it.
Not holding my breath though.
It needs something. I've just been trying to do something pretty simple - find out the dates of images in a set - which used to be say but now seems impossible.

I get the Spinning Balls thing at work on a 100Mb/s uncontended connection, so I think their servers can't serve up the justified images fast enough.

True, but as a first attempt, they came damn close 🙂

Yep and EXIF data seems to have vanished as well (or I can't find it).
Yeah, it lost a lot of appeal for me once they changed it. I certainly stopped using it as much. And it's much harder to browse your friends pictures, I virtually never do that any more. It was great before.
I think the only reason I'd renew it now is because I have so many pictures on there which I don't want to lose.
Plus the app is next to useless.

Had the same issue, used something called pi.pe to move it all across to Dropbox, and shut down my flickr account.
Looks like pi.pe has been taken over by The Man though, and is offline http://blog.pixelpipe.com/ - I'm sure there are other ways to do the same thing.
It's not just connection speed. If I scroll down a page of search results or whatever, it soon starts taking around 10 seconds per click on the scroll bar, and keeps worsening. It's unusable on this machine (Google Images, by comparison, is perfectly smooth). My other pet gripe is that it's also unusable on a mobile device, and there's no way to flip between the too-heavy desktop site and the too-light mobile site. Plus plenty of other issues. It's a complete shambles.
Yep, they should sort it out. I haven't got the patience to edit, caption and add my photos to groups anymore, and a lot of uploads fail and it takes several attempts to log out. Flickr's a ****in' drag nowerdays 🙁

I've got just shy on 10k photos on there, all named, tagged and in sets which I use to look stuff up on quite often, or did before it they wrecked it. It's only inertia that means I'm still using it and that only goes so far....
Footflaps: exif info is found by going to lightbox and clicking on the three dots at the bottom rh corner of the black.
Well, they seem to have given the servers a good kick up the arse - running a lot faster it seems.
Hmm, can't upload ATM and the groups seem borked....
More Flickr awsumness....

Yep, it does seem faster than it has been recently, but still much slower than it used to be before project 'Self destruction' was launched...
