Hi all

I have reused my fishtank and the air pump isn't working.
It used to work ok and make some bubbles but not any more. It appears that it only manages to get the air in the few first cms of the tube.

Any idea?

Cheers

Have you got the one way valve the right way round?

Kinked air tube?

It's a CFHproof pump just one hole in it.

Nemo will have put a small stone in the spinning wheel, swum up the pipe in a bid for you to clean the tank and escape over the road into the harbour........

You have to refill it with the special air they sell down at the pet shop.

The rubber thingy in the pump is split or has come adrift. If its a reasonable one you can probably get a parts set incuding rubber thing, filter etc.

I am sure you have checked, but is something covering the intake?

Mudddy is most likely correct, the rubber diaphram has split. You can get replacements.Pumps are easy to take apart.

Is the pump humming?

If it is (as mentioned) the diaphram might be split or has jumped off it's housing.

Check the air intack filter isn't blocked (dirty), if it is take it out intil the pumps been serviced.

If it's powering an undergravel filter you'd be better off fitting a powerhead on the tube for more power and silent running.

As above take the airhose off the pump and check that the pump is producing any pressure - if not the rubber diaphram is the likely culprit. If it is pumping air could be yourair stone is clogged. Try blowing down the line to see how much pressure is needed to make it bubble.
