I know this is not the biggest worry at the moment, but it is a distraction from serious things.
My car has been due a service since February. It's probably done about 5,000 miles since it started begging.
It was due to be done on the first day of full lockdown, so wasn't done. It's coming up on 2 years old.
I asked the lease company when the dealer would likely be opening, and they have said that there is no confirmed date, but my local Halfords could cope with a simple service.,
That has sent a chill down my spine, especially in the light of the Kwik Fit thread the other day.
Can I trust my lovely car with Halfords? Or should I just wait?
Can I trust my lovely car with Halfords?
It's not yours, it's the lease companies.
If they say take it to Halfords, I'd do that rather than be held liable for not getting it serviced.
what brand of car is it?
As long as Halrods uses OE parts and does the same schedule you should be fine, although I personally wouldn't let them wash my car.
I had the Mrs' Merc E class serviced yesterday for it's first service, which is a month overdue. I took it to a Merc independent who used merc parts and registered it on the Merc DBS system and it cost £156 Vs £449 from the Merc dealer. So we saved £300 and all i lost out on was sitting in a fancy showroom drinking awful coffee with wi-fi.
She'd already had a notification on her phone telling her in the Mercede app that it had been serviced, very impressed.
Ask them how much a missed service will cost when you return the car. In my experience it's often significantly cheaper than actually having it serviced in the first place.
(Apologies to the person who owns my old Insignia which did 40,000 miles on the original engine oil)
Lease car that I have no intention of owning, I’d take it to Halfords or anywhere they wanted.
My own car I wouldn’t go anywhere near them.
Dealers are all open now.
They really are not.
I checked.
Halfords Service centres are the old Lex Autocentre places aren't they?
Anyway, they'll be no better or worse than any other chain place I suppose, I wouldn't worry about it, there's almost certainly nothing wrong with your nearly new car so it doesn't need the "skilled technicians" of your local dealer so tell you, you need some expensive wiper blades or tyres.
As above rental car so no worries about sending it to the Halfords.
Mrs t-rs car needs a service in 3k miles. It'll get done this weekend before she goes back to work on account of the terrible weather we are having.
Doing it in advance of the bing bong I mean "only" 5k is 1/3 of the usual service interval these days.....unless it's a lease car in which case you go on the long life low stress plan to save money in full knowledge your handing it back ala flaperon.
Can you take it to a normal independent garage.lots are open.
