When opening a new tab in FF5, is it possible to set the new tab/page to the home page, rather than having a blank page open, then clicking on the home page button ?

Get the Tab Utilities add-on ([url= https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-utilities/ ]link[/url]). That will give you, amongst many other things, the option to have new tabs open with your home page.
