Basically a simple part ex of one car to a newer one has turned into a nightmare. Traded in the car after 3 years for a new one. New finance on new car is set up and running.

Now the dealer asked us to get a settlement figure off moneyway previous finance company so they could settle it. Now we asked moneyway to fax it,email the dealers and send us a copy. They have failed to do this after asking three times the dealer has also phoned them and still nothing.

Now moneyway are demanding payments off us and threatening the usual it will effect my credit file, court action also.

Any ideas how to sort these muppets.

Well within my means house paid for, bills get paid on time. Not the first or only person who has a car on finance.
I'm not in debt this is a case of a finance company not sending a settlement figure and the dealer not being able to settle it till they do.

No need for it, have been in debt in the past. And took ages to get my credit history perfect buy and pay off a house. And now these morons are trying to cock it up.

Phone them up, you can rightly challenge any attempt to chase you / theaten action given your requests. Email/write to them so you have a record too.

Depending on the wording of the original contract moneywise could well be losing out on future interest/profits hence dragging their feet.

If the car was on Hp you can return it halfway through the term no questions asked can you not? Not ideal but can be done.

No it was a loan through a dealer but the new one is.
Under the consumer credit act they are as posted above denying my right to settle the balance.

Is the loan secured against the car or unsecured?

Twitter? Give them some heat publicly and demand resolution. There's always the ombudsman too

Finally sorted after threatening them with financial ombudsman. Car dealership has now paid the balance. Avoid money way and their partners v12 at all costs.
