"Nearby" isn't particularly descriptive. Nearby to what? London? Venezuela? Saturn?

The initials might not be a working title and it might not be a film. Could be an advert, could be a TV series and often the initials will be the production company (to save them getting new signs made for every production) rather than the actual or working production title. Theres at least one production company called 'DLF' - David Lynch Foundation frinstance

EDIT - incidentally - I've never worked on a film thats had a 'working title' - they've all been known and referred to pretty much by the name they were released as (give or take a tweak to tag-line) from the outset.

I live near pinewood studios and there's hundreds of bits of day-glo card stuck to lampposts and traffic lights all the time. The names just appear to either be random letters or occasionally a random word. I've never tried to crack the code but my idle observation suggests there isn't one.

Given the levels of geekiness that people have for film it is surprising that there isn't a forum somewhere dedicated to listing these.

A couple of months ago I stumbled into a production base for a historical drama being filmed in Northern Ireland (GoT). I guess at 7am if you're carrying a coffee, look hung over and are devilishly handsome people just assume you're famous actor.

Or probably, more likely, I look like a wildling.

This was what I thought MW, bound to be a film buff's website with this sort of thing on.

Drac is right Bedfordshire, Cardington Sheds to be precise. Noticed them last night while Airlander was flying about and I was heading to the chippie (Shortstown Chip Shop is very good!).

maccruiskeen - interesting about most films not having working titles. RFK was filmed at the Sheds (and Milbrook test track I think). RFK is what the signs said, it meant Rory's First Kiss aka The Dark Knight.

Cougar - read the rest of that post! I wasn't actually after anything specific to the location or really the DLF sign. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a website or forum that might have such info.

Where it was actually doesn't matter really, even though I've since said where.

Can't vouch for 'most' but in relation to any of the films I've worked on the titles haven't been any kind of secret. But on the unit signs themselves theres not really and purpose in them saying anything other than UNIT or LOC unless theres more than one production filming in the vicinity.

Can depend a bit though - particularly when films are location based rather than studio based its difficult to keep the fact a film is being made (and who is in it) a secret so conversely rather than being secretive the filming gets publicised and effectively becomes the first phase of marketing the film. Stuff like World War Z they left the location in glasgow set up for a few days and invited the public to come and nosy around.

Sometimes the secrecy is the marketing - you don't have to pay for media space if people if furtive little journalists think they're getting a scoop. 🙂

Yup usually LOC or UNIT signs up here when they're doing films or TV. The latest Transforners film was almost an open set, people could stand and watch what was going on. They invited kids to look in the cars and even start them.

School newsletter was emailed earlier with the head wishing a kid luck who has a part in a film being filmed over the summer at the sheds. He went on to say that it's a Disney film. So DLF might be something like Disney Live Film if "live" films are becoming a trend now (Like Beauty and the Beast)

Possibly: Disney Lucasfilm.

Could be a remake of any of the classic Disney films...

The bonds are simply B22, B23, B24 ( same name as the production company fro each film I.e Spectre was B25 Ltd

Lucasfilm still goes by the LFL title

I asked a friend who's in the industry and got this back:
