The fence between my right-hand neighbours & myself blew down a month ago. The property boundary is a line of vertically placed flagstones & the fence was on the neighbours side, making it his fence as far as I'm concerned.
I spoke to the owner (who rents the house out) and offered to go 50/50 with him as the fence was carrying some climbing plants from my side, plus its only fair I thought.
He was initially supportive of the idea but has since gone quiet, so ive arranged for a fence to be erected on my side of the boundary & the wrecked fence can stay where it lies in his property.
We dropped a Hawthorn tree last Friday, I cleared all the debris out of next doors yard & the tree & debris is being taken away by the fencing guys. The wrecked fence however, is staying where it fell on his property.
I feel sorry for the tenants but I'm not in the business of paying to clear away someone else's rubbish.
Will I be in anyway responsible for that broken fence?
