You're right though, not picking up yur dogs poo, especially in a public recreation area, is about as selfish as it gets.
Took my dog for a walk yesterday. We went past quite a popular park which was highly populated with kids. He only went a got himself covered in kid poo! You wouldn't believe how it sticks to his fur.
(I am a dog owner. I do agree with the OP. I walked 3 miles with a bag of dog crap yesterday as I don't believe in leaving it or hanging it. I don't expect a reward or a thank you. It just comes with owning dog).

Up until about 6 weeks ago we had one living in our kitchen, it was too small to go outside. He didn't smell too bad really, we gave him better quality food compared to the last ones we've had.
Last year we had two in our shed over winter and they stank(?), you could smell them before you opened the door.
If the missus had her way we'd have two fox cubs in the kitchen at the moment.
