What type of bird (in the UK) could fly off with a whole fat ball?

I put a few up lose in a tree in my garden this morning, and four have gone by lunch time!

Biggest thing I have seen so far is a pigeon?

Are they strong enough to fly away with a whole fat ball?

Unladen swallow?

Gang of baby robins?

Squirrels?

Ours disappear alarmingly quickly if not secured in a cage, never seen a pigeon take more than half a one but the squirrels pinch the whole ones without any problem.

Squirrels, not thought of that.

I might make a puzzel for them to solve 😉

If it's squirrels then mix some chilli with the fat balls. Birds will eat it but squirrels stay away

Top tipitude! Birds can't taste chilli but Squirels can and they don't like it. So make up
some chilli oil and rub it on your balls.

Crows will demolish a whole one in minutes, if they have a handy branch to perch on.

no sign of them been eaten, no scraps left on the floor, I am sure they have been nicked, will set up a webcam next time, to catch the villan 😉

Grey, ****in', squirrels keep wrecking our fat-ball feeders 👿
They don't appear to like a dilute ammonia solution, fired at them from a Supersoaker, though. 😈

Is that actually true or an urban myth?

Go to the cop shop and tell them some young birds have been nibbling your fat balls.
