Come Up And See Me.

Moloko's The Time Is Now sometimes fools me for a few bars, though...

Stevie Wonder, Superstition.

Undertones, My Perfect Cousin,

The The, Uncertain Smile (Jools Holland outro isn't half bad either).

Good call with The Stones, just getting my kids into them and they like that song

For goosebump-inducing intros, it has to be End of Green by Kerbdog.

Pretty Vacant leapt into my head too as I read the OP. I wouldn't say I'm a Pistols fan but it's a great riff.

Don't Drag Me Down by Social Distortion. Starts with drums, then bass, then feedback, then a pick scrape into the main riff/lead hook. Such a good song as well, probably one of my favourites.

Honorable mentions go to these

Fuzz - Loose Sutres. Such an awesome little riff and lovely guitar tone.

Protest The Hero - Mist. My favourite song off Volition and I somehow managed to learn the tapped guitar intro 😀

Woe to you oh earth and sea
For the devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows that time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
It's number is six hundred and sixty six.

I love that it's quieter than the music, so you turn the volume right up before the opening riff kicks in.

If it's ACDC it has to be Highway to Hell or Riff Raff surely! Highway to Hell is my go-to riff when testing out new guitar stuff. If those chords don't sound good then there's no hope.

Prodigy Outer Space. 8)

With so many great intros, it's not about the intro itself, it's the suspension between the intro and what you know is coming.

Amen people. 😉

true dat.

the start of safe european home by the clash always gets me. it leads to the best 3 songs to open an album i can think of, SEH, english civil war then tommy gun.

other good shouts are....

sex pistols-pretty vacant,
dead kennedys-california uber alles
acdc-thunderstruck
the drumming intro on motorhead-overkill
SLF-alternative ulster
