Not forgetting Sven Vath, with Adam Beyer flying the flag for the pots and pans. Billy Nasty was always pretty good too.

Nights would be House of God, Third Eye and Atomic Jam up Birmingham, The Orbit, Nuclear Free Zone, Zero Gravity & Institute of Goa elsewhere 😯

Orbit Morley spent alot of time there in the day, world class dj's on,remember seeing Aphex there about 93 i think, laid down again he was lol..
Sven Vath was the hero at Morley i'd say, awesome guy, still is.

His stuff as FUSE and Plastikman is superb but I'm not at all keen on the mnml direction he's taken in the past few years

Indeed - I presume he meant the acid house influence stuff not being a massive techno head myself.

Used to go to Havoc in Manchester, packed full sweat drippin off the roof. Ace.
Went to Orbit once, we got told to put our tops back on. Toss. Never went again.

Best Tune Ever:

[url=

- Bon Voyage (Adam Beyer Remix)

DJ's:

Dave Clarke
Adam Beyer
Chris Liebing
Sven Vath
Richie Hawtin (back in the 98-02 era, none of his new minimal shit!)

VERY surprised nobody has mentioned Monika Kruse yet! Some of her early stuff (around 2000/1) was mucking fental! Not in a mad mega BPM way, just so twisted and warped with basslines that would tear most clubbers a new ringpiece! Saw her DJ at Fuse in Brussels (MADDEST Techno club in the world, or at least it was back in the day) in 2002, bloody mental set! ALMOST too much for me even!

Best night I ever had was at Cocoon Club @ Amnesia in Ibiza, 16th July 2001, 2 days before my 21st Birthday... Man that was incredible! 3 Hours of Richie Hawtin on numerous decks, a first gen version of Final Scratch, and LOADS of effects... He took the entire club places it had never been before! It was unreal... Then Sven Vath came on after and just tore the place down with 3 hours of pounding bassline driven techno! Happy Days! 😀

Colin Favor, The Music Maker, Lennie D - they all rocked back in the early nineties. Anyone here used to go to Sterns in Worthing? The underground with the Green Lazer....good times

Used to go to Megadog aswell when at uni in Newcastle - MC Teabag was the main man I seem to remember!

you make that sound like nothing happened before 98 - "minimal shit" is hardly new!

Yeah I know, but I was too young prior to about 98 to know what it was all about... Think he's been DJing/Producing even longer than that, since about 88 or thereabouts! Minimal is indeed hardly new too (where did I say it was? Don't think I did you'll find!) it's just that he has become famously more minimal as time has gone on (until I stopped bothering to check out any of his stuff a couple of years ago)... Time was Richie Hawtin was God in my eyes, anything he touched turned to gold! But he got boring...

this thread promised so much and delivered so little.

*What is it with miserable old "nothing past 1992 was any good" rose tinted spectacle old buggers like you! Good music gets made every year, whether it was 1989, 2009, or anywhere inbetween, or indeed after or before! They're worse than Bloody Singlespeeders, they're all so elitist that unless they were there, it's not cool and shouldn't be talked about! Gets on my goat...

Cos of my age, I missed a good 8-10 years of quality underground dance music cos I was simply too young to know about it... I know a lot about dance music from 98 onwards (actually, more like about 95-96 onwards) so wrote about that...

All you guys that are like "kids these days, pah, they don't know what real music is or how to party properly"... Yeah, but you miserable old gits don't go out any more! You had your 3 years "back in the day", then put your slippers on, stoked up your pipe, and called it a night! I've been going clubbing for about 12 years or so now, and will bloody well continue to do so for as long as I bloody well can! Times change, music moves on, there's always something good round the corner too! 😉

But it is good fun remembering some of the good old stuff too...

*= Take all this with a BIG pinch of salt!!! 😉

OK for me Acid Techno means this and stuff like it:

London Acid City

This one is pretty funny too:

Inner City Junkies

Acid techno is pretty awful really IMO, only about as good decent trance.

Plastikman and loads of the other DJs mentioned aren't acid techno by my reckoning (brilliant though some of them are).

acid house they are..

yep maverick he has been doing longer than the said albums.although more acid- tb303 based on them 2 albums, the tb303 which he modified himself.

I love Richie Hawtin's newer minimal stuff - I wouldn't want to go out for it but at home it's ace. You hear something new each listen. His old stuff is good too - FUSE is one of those albums that has to go everywhere.

Anyway, to keep the acid fans happy how about (I hope I get my genres correct - dance music is more confusing than bloody bikes)

MaverickBoy sign me the way to this Monica Kruse - your description sold me immediately.

Some Monika Kruse tracks for whippersnapper... To be fair, I'm struggling to find some of her older stuff (ie. the stuff that I know) on Youtube, but if you put her name in on YouTube you do come up with a lot of hits for her newer stuff... Here's a couple of older ones though...

And if we're talking classic techno tunes... And Leftfield are cool, and Dave Clarke is cool, then Leftfield x Dave Clarke must be super cool!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC7rKlR5U9U

Dropped this one night whilst DJing in front of about 800 people... They went tits! Unbelievable atmosphere... Girls climbing on guys shoulders trying to get into the DJ booth, guys climbing up to try and reach me! MADNESS!

Who else remembers the mental DJ Dan's Needle Damage?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv-5WhUEtFI

Then there was Dave Clarke's remix of Jark Prongo's awesome Movin' Thru Your System...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCRoD7AdSRw&feature=related

Some Umek & Valentino Kanzyani...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IZVKA5Qz5w&feature=related

Then Dave Clarke's best ever mix if you ask me... Fischerspooners Emerge...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S_94D-mCUc

Best stop now I feel! 😉

Que was ace - was a regular there for Atomic Jam/HoG/Oscillate/Antidote/Ultimate Orange/Logical Progression/Spacehopper. Also loved Orbit - saw Sven Vath there on a Saturday following a Spacehopper allnighter on the Friday at the Que. Ace times.
