I had a new meter installed last week. All the values were zero (it was literally brand new) but I noticed today that it's recording a small total (2kWh/day roughly) of export.

I don't have solar panels. Any idea what could be triggering this?

Is it recording export separately from usage, or is it one reading going negative?

Power factor could cause this effect on certain types of old meters (mainly welding).

Wouldn’t think so on a smart meter.

I thought modern meters were power factor insensitive.

IIRC you used to be able to stick a large capacitor across L/N and reduce your bill....

It's one that shows import / export separately. The blinkenlight for reactive power doesn't seem to be going any faster than the real power one.

The only big load is an EV charger which has pulled 60kWh in the last few days. I think the AC chargers in a Tesla have a PF of close to 1 anyway.

No welding (that I know of).

I can add nothing sadly to what you have already noted.

I’m thinking possibly faulty.

Certainly one to query with your supplier.
