So, ended up in McD's yesterday.
Noted a fair number of customers simply leave their mess and walk out meaning someone else has to tidy up after them.
Is this expected?
I was always taught as a child to tidy up after myself....

I was always told to avoid places like McD's, find some real food
The bins and tray stands + signs telling you to tidy up dont give it away , the clientele they attract are not renound for social skills though .
keeps people in jobs though.
On the very rare occasions I use those places (probably once a year) I always clear away my own mess. It's what civilised people do.
Thanks for the guidance mws. I'll presume where you travel is rich in organic locally sourced eateries?
There's no excuse to ever use McDonald's unless you actually want to.

no just avoid the McD's
I've always wondered what happens to the rubbish in places like MaccyD's and costco etc. Most of the packaging is recyclable as you have cardboard cartons, paper on the tray etc but you seem to dump it all in one bin with bits of food. Do they sort the rubbish from the bins and recycle it?

Their coffee is good
Folks, an observation and question about behaviours which in true STW style has morphed into guidance on what and where not to eat.
I'll make my own choices about that on the basis of what I need at a specific point in time. McD's was convenient and hit the spot yesterday.
For lunch today I am tucking into my local butchers local lamb and mint sausages between 2 hand cut slices of my local bakers finest local oatmeal bread. Unfortunately I may have failed miserably as I had not reared the lamb nor cultivated and ground the oats, etc. Too bad. That said sharing this makes me feel a bit of a w*nk.
Oh no, look what you've made me do....I've got all defensive. 😉
That said sharing this makes me feel a bit of a w*nk.
So w*nk then sandwich? or sandwich then w*nk? 😉
[/dangling modifier]
Closed loop recycling?
It seems a little naive to walk through the golden arch and all it stands for then question the behaviours of your fellow diners. It seems that you almost want to distance yourself from them. 😉
Big Macs are awesome. Fact.
Drive thru for me though.
I worked at Vue for a summer and the same thing happened. Customers would buy food & drink. Then just leave it at the end of the film despite having to walk past me at the bottom of the stairs with an open bin..
Really? How hard is it.. 2 items of cardboard into one bin. Fair to say I hated humans after working there for 6 months. I did wonder how some of them didn't forget to breathe.
I always clean up after myself. People have better things to do than clear up after us animals.
Nothing fills you such unadulterated hatred as uncensored exposure to the general public...

Yeah but when you just paid £20 for 99p worth of food the temptation is to try and get your monies worth
The cinema is a whole different kettle of monkeys. All litter goes on the floor including half of the popcorn I've spilt on my lap.
Screw you Vue and your prices.

It's Vue that makes the money, not the poor minimum wadge employees who are treated like crap by every one! No one made you buy the food. You can bring stuff from the outside in..

Yep was a flippant remark, I don't buy the food at a cinema now. Just make sure I eat before a film. In fact since getting a new big telly that is bigger than the screen for non blockbusters in the local multiplex I rarely go at all.

I've eaten a McD once in my entire life. I manage to travel all over the place, most locations not exactly known for organic, locally sourced eateries, or McD's for that matter, but I still manage to find plenty of decent places to eat.
The zombie apocalypse cant come soon enough.
At the times of hardship as it is now, McD is not too bad. Yes it's dirty food, but boy sugar they add to buns and soda is so addictive coupled with pickled cucumber in BigMac and banana milkshake. God bless them, McD help a lot of hungry people. I find it difficult not to clean up after myself though. Other low lifers council junkies think McD owes them respect so its not cool to clean after themselve. Burn the lot of them.
When me and my mates go to Mcd's we use the drive thru and get four Big Mac meals with four cokes, keep it simple for the driver to order. We then drive to a nice country lay by or scenic area where it will be nice and quiet so we can enjoy our meal, then we just generally discard of all the food packaging out of the window.
Fast food joints, the only restaurants where the paying customer is expected to clear their own tables.
Leave things as you'd like to find them.

Me too! Adds a bit of colour to those dreary lay-bys.

In a McDonalds, are you mad. I'd get arrested.
No child (or adult) needs to see me empty my innards on the counter.

Someone once lobbed a half-full can of Coke out of a car window as they passed me along a fairly narrow country lane.
I picked it up and tore off after them, because, fortunately, they'd had to stop for a tractor coming in the other direction. I said to the half-wit in the passenger seat, 'here, I think you dropped this', and lobbed it into his lap, spraying Coke everywhere, then shot off before they could do anything.
Fortunately I was able to turn off before they could get away and catch up with me.
I did feel a warm glow of satisfaction for the rest of the day, though... 😈

Youv'e been to Swaledale haven't you?
Dunno where the nearest McD's is to Reeth but I saw some of their unmistakable packaging strewn on the road between Reeth & Helaugh a while back, could not believe it.
Well I could actually, nothing surprises me since I started working with prisoners.
I noticed today, people leaving trays in Costa even. Given the class of customer I'd expected better 😉
Hey you guys, look at me! I only eat the best proper food. I'm far above the slobs who eat at fast food restaurants. I'm just BETTER than most people, and I want you all to know this, even though I don't actually know any of you from Adam.
What I really want though is an argument so I can bang on and on about how dreadful the place is where you've eaten today, because winning an argument makes me feel big, clever, and.. well.. just better than you.
Look at me! Now bring it on!
I still manage to find plenty of decent places to eat.
Please name them!

Oh, ok then
I ate at the Bervie Chipper, fish was a tad too greasy but the chips where bang on.
We sometimes treat the Beaver Scouts to a trip at the end of term. We've a few nice restruants in town but you can't go marching 24 hungry/noisy/muddy 6 & 7 year olds in any of them, at least not for £1.99 a head. And before the righteous brothers up there ^^^ start, all the parents are asked & I've never known anyone say no to their child coming along. And we do get the kids to clear up after themselves. 🙂
Don't worry righteous brothers...there will be a "what loan" thread on soon so you can bleat on about how you've never borrowed anything for ever, ever, in your life etc, etc, yawn.

The one word at the end of that statement says it all.
It's past your bedtime.
Clean up - basic manners init?
"I only eat the best proper food. "
Ugh, you eat? So common.
I was always told to avoid places like McD's, find some real food
Sometimes I hate this place.
When I go to Maccys you just stick everything on the tray and whoosh it in the bin. Not too hard. Saying that, if I was too lazy to do it myself it's not exactly taxing for the floor staff to. In any case they're normally around to give the table a wipe, especially with my condiment control, so I'm not sure I save save them a massive amount of time.
I look down on the people who look down on the people who eat at McDonalds.
You poor simple fools.

+1
Only yesterday I found myself muttering 'plebs' to myself while visiting the supermarket 😐
^^^^^^+1
i work with the public, i have done for 10 years, it makes me extremely cynical.
i never go down the town, or anywhere there will be large numbers of people, i see more than enough of these asshats when im doing my 39 hrs at work.
unfortunately, i also, when people i havent met before tell me a snippet about themselves i find my self mentally thinking "really, do i look like i care?"
i wasnt like this when i was younger/didnt work with the general public, so it must be their fault.
btw, i always clean up if i visit any fast food joint, my parents taught me to clean up after myself.
I was walking down a town beach a couple of weeks ago on a nice sunny day. Lots of groups of young people in various states of undress had come down for the day. You could hardly see the beach for the discarded rubbish strewn around them - not washed up but fresh empty bottle, cans, food wrappers etc with silhouettes of rubbish where other groups had been and now left.
Some elements of society just seem to like sitting in their own shit - or at the very least are immune from it.
I look down on the people who look down on the people who eat at McDonalds
I look down on everyone; levels the playing field 😉
...and regarding OP, you've not seen anything until you've visited the KFC in Birstall. Literally more food, packaging and children on the floor, than on tables.

I feel your pain, I don't even have a lowly Waitrose to shop at. There is a new Supermarket being built nearby but it's a bloody ASDA peasant hole, I'm not shopping in one of those Cathedrals of tink.
