Sticking with the weather theme the smell of heavy dew on a late summer morning with a slight nip in the air. It reminds me of going back to school after the summer holidays. Not a fantastic smell because autumn and winter are on the way but an evocative one.

Compost, fresh bread and open fires whilst toasting the bread on the fire...

Great memories...

Third the Castrol R. Reminds me of many a Classic racing meet at Snetterton.

Creoste I can agree with, Smell of fresh cut grass, Smeel of rain on hot tarmac.

To be honest pretty much agree with everything that has been said so far.

bonfire mixed with wool - takes me instantly back to my childhood, my dad had seemingly endless bonfires at home and his gardening jumper was an old holey wool thing that permanently smelled of them.

Old school creosote combined with a freshly mown lawn.

Takes me right back to watching my Dad in the garden circa '79

I know what you mean, but sometimes I smell spring.

I think you can smell new plant growth and the sap rising in the trees. A definite smell. I bet if you did chemical analysis on the air through spring you'd find the chemicals change week by week.

Christmas day morning - it must be the mix of the smell of the tree and the cooking turkey.

New shoes.

As a child I loved the smell of exhaust fumes... leaded as well. Now my favourite smell is beach balls, or anything else made out of the same material.

Petrol fumes while filling up the car, I've actually missed this smell while my car has been off the road for the last 6 months, and only driving diesels in the mean time.

Burnt two stroke oil, reminds me of going to the bike racing with my dad when I was a kid

fresh laid tarmac, cut grass, coffee, cigar smoke

oh and I've always rather enjoyed the stench of my own farts ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also agree with the being able to smell spring thing. also you can often smell when it's about to rain.

like the post-it note one, the pages of a new glossy magazine, with the printers ink / varnish fumes still on it.

The smell of cricket eqipment - not musty after a long winter in the loft, I mean of a new pair of batting gloves or something. It's a mixture of the sheepskin leather but they also seem to dust them with some sort of powder to stop them being sticky. Great smell.

And on last night's ride, we passed a pub (the Cricketer's at Yateley in case it's important) and I swear they were barbecueing (at least grilling) king prawns with the shell on. Mmmmmmm!

WOW - sudden flashback to childhood holidays. Why do they have such a distinctive smell? Some unhealthy plasticiser no doubt.

have you had them recently? Found them, surprised they were still going, massively disappointed. Thinks its because of the no artificial this and that. Bring back E numbers all round.

Peat smoke. Went over to Ireland last November for a family do. Driving across from Dublin to Tuam at night it was pretty much all I could smell once I'd gotten off the motorway

Dettoll, cut grass, brand new shirts. And that gorgeous smell that's really hard to describe when you go out on a crisp, fresh morning when everything's clean and clear and frosty and fresh.

"The smell of a woman" - you know what I mean guys. Afterwards. When you go to work and you can still smell her on you...

Oh and Bog Myrtle (that's a plant, not an ex-girlfriend). After a hot day and the air is thick with it. It's a great midgie repellant too.
