[#385468]

just filled up an old hot water bottle for the missis. there's something about that smell, it reminds me of my childhood, cold winters in our old house with no central heating, a bed covered in blankets, many of them itchy, being really warm and sleeping the safe worry free slumber of an innocent child.

takes me right back that!

Smell of bonfires really works for me, as does when you can smell the fire when walking past an old cottage.

similarly reminds me of childhood but more out of the necessity of needing a hot water bottle so as not to die of hypothermia in the hay loft conversion bedroom of our 400 year old farm house.

by eck t'were cold back then

The smell from an empty purple canister of mini eggs. MMMMM...

Ziggy if you like creosote I dare you to ride along the A48 docks road in Newport of an evening past Monmouthshire Timber Supplies. It's so strong it's actually made me feel woozy - my lungs and throat tighten up and my eyes stream.

On the subject of pungent smells, the Mrs bought me a lemon tree in a pot the other day. Now the flowers have come out I have discovered that they don't smell lemon at all they smell of cheap vinyl, it's nasty.

Hot tar when the council are mending the roads.

Always reminds me of when I was a kid. Not sure why.

the inside of my dad's 70's cocktail cabinet...musty wood and alcohol fumes...lovely memories of nicking tots of whishee!

proper, not skunk, quality weed in a plastic bag...the smell of summer and the malverns ๐Ÿ˜‰

Quite a few,

Mrs NBIF or my daughters hair after coming in from the cold.

Brewery.

That first cold, clear, sunny day after the worst of the winter is gone, and (this is the strange bit) I walk out of my front door and all I can smell is sillage from the farmers fields nearby. Brilliant.

Sausage rolls fresh out of the oven
Clean bedsheets, that have been dried outside on the line

That first cold, clear, sunny day after the worst of the winter is gone

I know what you mean, but sometimes I smell spring.... It's odd....more of a feeling than a smell, but it's when the air smells fresh and new, and the breeze feels a bit warm, rather than a bit cold...
