Would like to get away from the smoke and see some dark skies. The full moon has gone, the nights are getting darker and I want some solitude.

Whereabouts in Essex/Suffolk can I find some dark skies?

*I'm aware any locations may run the risk of encountering diggers but it's a risk I'm willing to take.....

*this isn't some desperate plea for some in clandestine hook ups with half naked strangers. Honest.

I'd head for a quiet bit of the Suffolk coast.

Thetford training area was where I first saw the Milky Way in the 80s.

Head down to Burnham on Crouch on the train with your bike, then ride down to the mouth of the crouch and bivi on the sea wall where it empties into the sea.

I did this recently. Your mind will be blown
