Does anyone have opinions on memory foam/shredded foam/wheat husk/bamboo pillows?

I switched my mattress for a Simba one a couple of years ago and love it, but I'm balking at the idea of £50 for a pillow. They're reduced on their eBay outlet at the moment but are no longer selling them on their site, so I'm wondering if they're really worthwhile.

There's a lot of different varieties of slightly cheaper pillows on Amazon but not sure which are worthwhile.

ps. I'm allergic to down.

I've had one of these Ikea pillows for a few years now and wouldn't be without it. I stay in hotels for work quite a bit and really miss it. I'm considering buying a second one (and a bright coloured pillowcase) to take with me as I sleep so much better with it.

The only thing is the first few nights it smells really bad. Like someone has hidden a dead fish inside it! I was considering taking it back but found some online reviews thaty said the same and that it dissipates after a few nights and goes away. And it did. Something to do with the foam it's made from or something.

They had some memory foam ones in Lidls. Might be worth a try.

Lifts and stairs must be a nightmare. You have my sympathies.

The simba ones are ace.  I have been looking in vain for a comfy pillow and these have totally fit the bill.  You can adjust the firmness to suit and get it sorted perfectly.

The jokes started well but they're going downhill now.

@kelron @jamj1974

Never come across these before and am intrigued. What's the difference between the Hybrid ones and the Hybrid with Outlast ones, apart from the price that is?!

I've tried a couple of different memory foam pillows (nothing over £25 though) but found them too hard (like my ear would ache if head on side for too long) and the memory foam properties themselves kind of encourage you to stay in the same position

@largeruk

The outlast one is supposed to have magic temperature regulating NASA fabric, and a layer of down. I assume they used golden goose feathers given the price.

Its a funny thing though, people will spend loads of money on a saddle that they sit on for a few hours a week, but rare reluctant to spend money on a pillow that they use for many hours every single  night.

Tried wool pillows?

Got some from Soak & Sleep which are great. Nice temperature regulation compared with older foam ones I've used. No real loss of volume overnight and no issues with feathers poking through.

You spend a third of your life with your head nestling your pillow. What price comfort?

I'd strongly recommend not listening to Petula Clark's advice when you're low.

I have one of those colours IKEA pillows. As I sleep on my side I find it cradles my head very nicely.

I bought a memory foam one from Bensons a few years ago and it’s still going strong. Was about £65 and worth every penny.

I bought a latex one from Bensons some years ago. In fact I asked if they still did them when we were buying the lad a new bed recently, & they did. They were about £85. It is one of the best things I've ever bought. It goes on holiday with me. 🙂

Temper ? ones here ..... Worth every god dam single penny.

Super comfy and seemingly last for ever ... ours are about ten years old and are as good now as they ever were.

Oh and what with the pillows being so heavy the added bonus is that....  when you are having a pillow fight with the kids, and you manage to catch them just right,  you'll send the kids half way across the room... Such Fun.

I'd normal say Good Luck at this point ... but you'll not need it ... BUY THEM.
