We seem to mainly do the same stuff every time. Which we love but could fancy a change.
Me, MrsOxo and two kids (6&2). We're at Troutbeck club site for four nights and like climbing frames, slides, walks and coffee. I'm still a bit broken so nothing too strenuous if you please. X

If you have Tesco vouchers they can also be exchanged. MrsT has done this for a visit with grand kids ๐
Just over the M6 is Whitescar Caves. We did this last week and was very good
Conniston Slate mine?
Grand kids are 6 btw
Simple stuff like the parks in Keswick satisfied grandson on Sat. The pencil museum, Beatrix Potter in Windermere, rowing boats.........etc
You should have come over winter, it was free!
Anyone done the Ravensglass railway? I've only been to Ravensglass by bike. Odd place.
Aye, years ago but on the list of must-do_again ๐
Larl Ratty. Not been on it since I was a child. You could go round Muncaster Castle on the way though. And then an educational visit to the Sellafield Visitors Centre. Its all up that way.
Theres another railway at Haverthwaite, you can go to Lakeside on it and got to the Aquarium of the lakes.
What about a ride on the Gondola on Coniston?
Or one of those boats on Windermere?
Sellafield visitors centre is closed now, googling that prompted this thread.
Forgot about lakeside, however, me and MrsOxo would rather sack the kids and head for the spa instead. There fell foot park across the water too.
Sellafield visitors centre is closed now,
Is it? I thought it was still open at weekends.
I'm not sure , it may well be. The first page I read was talking about the closure of it all.
A walk round Tarn Hows followed by a coffee at chesters?
Its a shame Yew Tree Farm has closed for coffee, that was good.
Cheers all.

Penrith Park is good, and wander up 'The Beacon' is nice.

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway is good as are most of the suggestions up there.
Last weekend, we did a little circular walk* up to Alcock Tarn from Grasmere - http://www.lakedistrictwalks.com/alcock.html
Take some nets and do a spot of pond dipping, as its full of sticklebacks.
Finish off with food at teh new Wilf's
*Other walks are available
Whinlatter play area- new, very good.
Littletown Farm, newlands valley- cafe 11am-5pm, garden with slide, swing, climbing frame etc (basic but a lovely setting) nice walks there eg over catbells or traversing along the newlands side of catbells.

Matt, did you shake hands under the Bowder Stone?
Never really considerd Whinlatter, It's years since we were there. Trotters animal park is good for anyone in the area, but we were only there a couple of months back.
Walk around loughrigg, tea and scones at cote How (6 miles tho)
There's go ape at whinlatter and grizedale, and a similar thing at brockholes down the road from you. We looked at it yesterday and were advised to book. ( ok for 6yo not for 2yo)
Boardwalks by derwent water between manesty and lodore falls. If you take out a second mortgage you could even have afternoon tea at the hotel
Castle crag in borrowdale from grange
+ 1 for Bowderstone (I'm still wearing a cast from falling while bouldering when visiting my with our 5yr old a few weeks back, don't bounce as well as I used too ๐ )
+ 1 for Loughrigg, followed by paddle/swim at south end of Grasmere
A walk we have done twice now with daughter (aged 3 and again this year aged 5) is to park at Hodge Close quarry (keeps kids under control as it's a big drop) and walk over to Catherdral quarry to explore the old mine tunnels, returning via Tilberthaite.
Whinlatter BTW:
