#pirellishocker!!

No idea what's going on with these tyres, but it's hardly a good advert for Pirelli!

Never seen owt like it!! Carnage.

What can they do though - leave them out and another one goes and someone gets hurt not good.

Stopping the race - not good.

Rock / hard place for Charlie et al.

Cheers

Sharp kerbs?

I'd imagine the front wheel would be affected too.

shades of Indianapolis 2005, but at least Michelin realised in advance

Is there not more stress on the rear tyres?

Indeed. And at least there was more than one tyre so some people could race.

Reprofiled kerbs apparently, and talk that the inside face isn't as well finished as the rest so cutting kerbs too much possibly runs tyre over exposed aggregate. Sure there will be some forensic examination after the race.

Another lap and it looks like Sebbie's tyre would have gone also. Loved that shot of Newey head in hands...

Cheers

No more exploding tyres since they stopped using the kerbs

Commentary just insinuated that they'd increased pressures by a couple of PSI

No hatred on my part, find the guy very amiable, I just want a close championship, and for the last few years that means not supporting vettel

WHAT A RACE

Clearly what F1 needs is tyre delaminations every weekend. Well maybe that and to race at Silverstone every weekend - it does reliably produce more exciting races than most other circuits.

Its not hatred. I just don't like him as a sportsman. I admire his achievements, I just think he's a conniving little sod beneath the amiable facade and therefore, two faced. Kimi, webber and others were/are blatant in their ambition, honest about how they intend to go about things. Vettel is duplicitous and it's not a quality which endears him to me.

Well he doesn't exactly endear himself to people does he? "I would do it again"

Interesting juxtaposition:

Commentator: "What a weekend Nico's had - his 28th birthday and now a win. He's had his cake and now he can eat it"

/pan and zoom in on Rosberg's missus....

how many of the best have made that sort of comment though? I'd guess all of them at some point.

Although, I suppose some may be remembered fondly, but not necessarily popular at the time (we just didn't realised due to lack of intarnetz?)?

It's the way he says it. The greats have generally managed to say such things without sounding like quite such a nob. To be fair, he's not the first successful German driver to be an arrogant arse.

Ooh, cheeky - DC just used the tyre issue as an excuse to get RB to comment on the secret tyre test 🙂

Perhaps Pirelli should give the affected teams a free tyre test with their newer compounds...

Aracer - arrogant or sure of his ability to win 7 titles? 😉

Pook, I see where you're coming from however I think all that stuff is blown way out of proportion. Also trying to remember what all the others were like at his age. LH was looking at a career in hip-hop and Kimi was either drink or refusing to utter more than 2 words iirc 😉

Gary Anderson: "We have heard a lot today about Turn 4 and we have come to have look at what could be causing these punctures. Looking at the part inside the kerb, it is green to match the grass but it is actually concrete. The cars go over the section and the sidewall of the tyre could be getting caught on a sharp part of the kerb, it is about the height we saw the tyre getting cut and coming off."

Webber drove well but considering that LH was at the back of the pack he drove a blinder to get back to 4th - the last 6 laps were brilliant.

Rosberg keeps the win - only got a reprimand instead of a time penalty.

Would have been a shame if they had demoted him - reckon he's really showing how capable he is against Hamilton at the moment - his arrival is keeping Nico on his toes.
