I'm with Cougar. Spoilers are intended to disrupt airflow to reduce drag, wings are intended to produce downforce at the expense of drag.

I think the problem here is the lack of originality in the humour, it's not the first time that this [i]joke[/i] has been done.

In the Audi case - they had to introduce a spoiler to the original TT because the smooth rounded bootlid generated lift at higher speeds, so the spoiler distrupted the flow of air off the back of the car.
Same thing with the new shape TT. it still has that rounded back (it has a sharper edge to it) so the spoiler will do something, not a lot. but it isnt a wing in the same sense that the first picture is a wing.
