Apparently you shouldn’t overtake there 😂🤣
Hope Hamilton mentions Horner's ridiculous statement that you can't overtake at Copse in his winner's interview!
That was one hell of a chase down of LeClerc, properly earned the win regardless.
Yes Lewis! Mansell-esque scenes with the Union Jack there.
Fair play! 🙂
Get in there Lewis
Fair play! 🙂
hardly. Benefiting from shunting his rival off the track
I see to remember everyone on here bleating like hell when others do it
took about 16 secs in 10 laps out of Leclerc
That was an exciting race

Oh, give over - as has now been amply demonstrated, you CAN overtake at Copse. Just need to be alongside and not have someone turn in on you. 🙂
So what’s the Perez penalty? Max has served his already and I’m glad he’s ok.
Good on Lewis for bringing it home for an incredible win but 130,000 fans packed into the circuit and not a mask to be seen?, surely it’s just common sense to err on the side of caution.

Horner still doubling down in that you can't overtake into copse, the bloke is just a really sore loser. He's the main reason I don't like the RedBull team as a whole.
Horner is so full of shit. Lewis shouldn't overtake blah blah blah.
I am certain that if the position had been reversed it would still have been LH's fault according to Red Bull 🙂
I don’t understand this “That’s not a corner you overtake on” from Red Bull
That’s not what they said, though. They said “it’s not a corner where you stick a wheel up the inside”. Which (to my mind at least) means if you’re going to make a move, you’d better have it all wrapped up good and proper, because a half-hearted attempt is what’s dangerous. We’ve seen plenty of overtaking at Copse, especially in recent years, but it has to be signed, sealed and delivered.
I think part of the issue here is the two setups: the Red Bull has been a fair bit faster in the corners all weekend whereas Mercedes have been running less wing. That meant Verstappen was later on the brakes, which is where it started to unravel. They were very, very briefly level—or seemed to be—and then Hamilton had to scrub speed first.
Racing incident? Yeah. More responsibility at Hamilton’s door? Yeah. Mainly it was just a shame that it’s a bit of a disappointing way for that battle to go.
Was hoping Norris would make the podium, but hey, Leclerc did an outstanding job.
Horner - What a poor loser🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL at Horner saying “this isn’t the behaviour you’d expect from a 7-time world champion”.
Christian, there’s only been one other 7-time world champion, and among various other on-track misdemeanours he famously drove straight into two championship rivals deliberately. Going balls-deep into Copse is the least you should expect, ye daft plum 😂
Wow. Incredible race and Silverstone has looked fantastic all weekend. That interview just now with Horner by Kravitz was unbearable. I’ve never been able to tolerate the little windbag and I know he is just towing the team line but FFS get a grip you twisty little ****. Verstappen (as always) was super aggressive and got a taste of his own.. Racing incident for me with both parties able to have done a bit more to avoid. But Helmut Marko calling for a race ban.. arrr well aye mate - give your head a wobble you silly owld bastard.
^^^ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Max moves left before the corner to cover Lewis on the outside, Lewis has the run on him so goes up the inside, from that point Max is always going to out brake Lewis there because his turn is not as tight, but he cuts across too early - he can carry more speed than Hamilton round there and if he’d waited a moment longer he’d have been fully ahead and they’d never have touched. Lewis could have slammed the brakes on to avoid it, Max could have bailed out from his attempt to make Lewis blink first. Since both could have avoided that collision it’s 50/50 for me, so bad luck that Max crashed out and probably correct to penalise Lewis. Horner and Marko are a right pair of tits though.
looked to me as Lewis was backing out of it with Vestappen aggressive in shutting the door, both miss judged it unfortunately Max came out worse from the coming together.
I was coming on here to bitch about Horner but Bez has nailed it.
Just need Cav to win the sprint in a few minutes time and it'll be a fine weekend - shame no British winner of the The Open.
If GB News starts up a sports department, Horner would be a good fit.
Today Horner is sponsored by the word "desperate".
Mansell-esque scenes with the Union Jack there
Comparison to Mansell is something to be proud of??
Verstappen races hard, today he tried it and expected the usual outcome but Hamilton wasn't for giving in this time. This time Verstappen had it all to lose and he did. He had to show his metal and race him hard and it was fair game.
Did he mention Perez? I switched to ITV4. 16km to go if interested.

Well, I never mentioned “proud” but seeing as you have with a negative implication feel free to educate as to why you think it might not be.
I’m a Hamilton fan, penalty was lenient given the outcome. On the other hand though, if the roles are reversed the same thing happens in my mind. Max needs to learn that sometimes it’s better just to let it go and live to fight another day. He had a big lead in the championship and a faster car to boot. He would have been second at worst and probably would have had the pace to win anyway. Just back out of it, let your ego shrink a minute and go again. As ever, he didn’t and he now has a far smaller lead, a team with a huge repair bill for his car (a team that will be on the very limit of the cost cap it should be said). Everyone has said it for years, until he calms down and learns to live to fight another day, this outcome will always happen every now and again.
He was soooo boring. That ok?.
Hamilton is in a different league
You could maybe call Mansell boring if you’d only ever seen his interviews or watched him play golf. But the tifosi didn’t call him “Il Leone” for nothing.
Anyone else thinking of this? Hamilton being more Senna-like than I've ever seen before.

Watch it again. Lewis understeered, he never got anywhere near the apex. Hamilton had a car and a half of space, yet crashed into the guy on the outside anyway. Not a huge mistake, again “clumsy” is still the word that works best
Bez I watched every race in the Mansell era and beyond. Used to religiously watch qualifying and the race. I was never a fan.
I haven’t watched a race since The 2017 season though, as I gave up on the ‘sport’ hence I won’t comment on the on track shenanigans.
I may have missed some exciting racing at times, my loss.

A handful of ballsy moves, alongside an unwillingness to test or set cars up, a lack of a real racing brain, and a massive persecution complex. I have respect for what he did, but he could have been so much more.
Anything that upsets horner that much is def worth it

Not disputing any of that 😉
Anyone else thinking of this?
Only in the sense that both robbed us of what had the potential to be a monumental race. The contexts to the two incidents were massively different. Suzuka 90 wasn’t really an example of Senna’s ability to force his opponent to choose between crashing or backing out, he was just piling in with no intention of either of them making it past the first turn.
I assume red bull expect Perez to serve a race ban too or do bands only apply if your in one of their cars
Punishment to fit the crime? Ok Christian proper like for like punishment, clip an end plate causing a change then you also have to come in for a change, squeeze someone onto the grass? Next lap you have to run on the grass, cause a crash/retirement then it's black flags for you. Is that what he wants?
“Car 44 was on a line that did not reach the apex of the corner, with room available to the inside.
“When Car 33 turned into the corner, Car 44 did not avoid contact and the left front of Car 44 contacted the right rear of Car 33. Car 44 is judged predominantly at fault.”
FIA
Watching again Max went to turn in, saw Hamilton coming up the inside, eased off then thought again and turned in quite hard. Deserves everything that happened.
I think Max would have done exactly the same if he was in Hamilton's position, he bullys people and hopes(now even expects) that they will blink first. I think Hamilton could have been a bit less fair in the earlier corners but doesn't usually need to be that firm, with Verstappen you have to really force the move as he won't back out.
I also keep seeing reference to the g force Verstappen experienced but I don't know that that should be a factor, there was an opportunity to pass and I'm not sure the speed of the corner is that relevant. You can't only make bold moves on slow corners.
^ the fact that Horner was making such a meal of this aspect, that it was on a fast corner, that Lewis “put Max in hospital” when he went for check up etc., all that tells you that Horner is trying to provoke an emotional reaction rather than a rational one. Horner knows fine well it was a racing incident, if it was clear cut 100% Lewis’s fault and Max was 100% innocent then he’d let the circumstances speak for themselves, but it wasn’t so he has to come out with all this crap.
