Yep....once Alonso drives next year's car and gets bored, JB can come back. Can't see him back in 2018 tho

Still paid by McLaren for 2 years to hobnob about and ride his bike in-between.

I'd take that, I think.

Seems like an odd situation for Button to be in. Hard to see that he'll be back in 2018.

Or maybe he's making room in his calendar for the Top Gear gig?

Only 2 points in it now, which might make things a bit more exciting. Yesterdays race was pretty dull. Rosberg easily had in the bag with plenty of laps left.

I'm going to say it again but bring back gravel traps, all this wandering off at the corner and coming back on with almost no penalty is ridiculous.

Has Rosberg actually gone out and won a race this year?
By won I mean challenged or been challenged, as far as I can remember there has been no race long wheel to wheel duel with his team mate and he has more often than not benefited from outside influences.
Just to balance things out I'm not a fan of either Mercedes drivers, however whilst they are in the dominant position it'd be good to see them have a lights to flag race at least once this season...

I'm sure Bernie won't have contracted himself out of a job!

Something that may affect F1 fans directly though is the company buying F1 owns Virgin Media so F1 coverage possibly heading their way?

He's won seven, I believe. I know it's boring, but he does it by getting to the finish before anyone else.

Those are the rumours. It'd be weird to see him gone after all this time!!

Looks like Canadian Lance Stroll, current leader of the European F3 championsip, for the Williams seat

Joe Saward seems to have a pretty confident take on the Liberty Media deal, and he's been talking about it for a while now. If you don't read his blog it's well worth it, it's one of the few places where you get to read stuff that isn't cobbled together from press releases.

Brundle mentioned Eddie Jordan to Eccleston during his pre race grid walk thing with regards to an F1 buy out thingy.

It's bad enough having EJ on the podium once a year let alone let him have anything to do with running it.

Three more years! He'll be 88 by then - surely that's just a 'soft landing' contract to ease him out once they've unpicked the details of all the dodgy deals he's done.

(Without malice) I can't wait to read a full biography of Bernie once he's gone and people finally feel they can tell the whole truth.

Agree - Joe's website is the best source of news out there

So it's definitely happening then: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37303230

Although "Mr Ecclestone said: "I would like to welcome Liberty Media and Chase Carey to Formula 1 and I look forward to working with them."" makes it sound like Bernie still wants to be boss

Oh and I read somewhere that Chase has said he won't be doing anything about revenue distribution just yet, plus his links with NewsCorp suggest $ky's deal will roll on unaffected. I think BE's being kept in until the current Concorde expires in 2020. Given the contracts with sponsors, promoters etc. that are already in place I'd expect it will take years for any real change to be visible. I think even the digital side they're banging on about as the 'next big thing' is tied up in the 100+ broadcast deals. A first step might be to actually allow promoters to use images/video to promote their events, but I'm not holding my breath for any swift 'revolution' in F1.

Another race passes and no comments over the weekend!

F1 seems to be lacking something at the minute. The mid-season races have been rather dull.

Hoping next years re-vamp brings back the spectacle.

Overall quite dull.
Though Kvyat vs Verstappen was pretty good. As was Seb getting from the back up to fifth, shame we didn't see much on the C4 highlights. Shame Ricci didn't get up on Ros a lap earlier or we'd have had a decent battle there as well.

Bloody scary with the marshal on track... 😯

I'm reading (and occasionally commenting on) this thread, haven't bothered to watch any of the last few races - I'm recording the highlights but reading the race report first and haven't been particularly inspired to watch any.

I think it might have something to do with LH driving like a granny. NR just nailed that one, LH needs to get his s#$% together if he wants to defend his title.

all I can say is that you have to (begrudgingly) give Rosberg credit for the win (and the qualifying lap)
LH driving like a granny

And by 'like a granny' you mean driving around an overheating brake issue?

Yes Nico had the same fault but he was in clean air so it was less of an issue.

Hamilton's only real fault on Sunday I think was the lock-up which allowed Kimi to pass him a couple of corners later.

There's been some interesting quips from Nicole on X Factor, maybe he's going through some ups & downs with her again. I can't blame him really.

His head is definitely elsewhere. FFS if it is Nicole, she messed his head up last time. It's Nico's title I'm afraid.

If it's Nicole he needs to go drive for Renault. Papa?

Interesting reports that Mr Pringle has been meeting the teams without Bernie

LH missed a lot of free practice in Singapore, so a possible reason for not being up with NR. Started last at Spa, so not really expected to win. Poor start (he took the blame for this) at Monza otherwise he would have won, so I don't think it's over yet.

the-muffin-man: i remember Willam Toet when he used to campaign his 2.8 turbo Gould single seater in the british hillclimb champs - used to fly back from switzerland to compete when there was a F1 race on.

Yep, this season is lacking something for me too.

It's starting to look like Rosberg could really win this!!

Yep pretty dull race. As above, real shame Ricciardo didn't have a couple more laps. I've been a die hard fan the past 5 years or so, watching practice sessions and qually where I can but I'm seriously considering getting sky sports taken out, saving myself some lowy and 3 hours of a Sunday. Properly dull but Monza was worse still!

Have noticed that I don't have any real drive to make time to watch the races 'live'* at the moment. Can't say exactly why but it seems there's nothing to grab me currently. Even Ricciardo didn't get me excited at the end, just knew the tyres would drop off and traffic would hamper him. Maybe the knowledge that it'll all be on Sky-only after next year is playing on my mind. Why invest in something when you'll have to let it go in the near-future.

* don't have Sky so C4 live or highlights. Did watch Singapore with my dad, who has Sky F1, but even then we both found it very boring.

I dunno - I thought that was quite an exciting finish actually. 0.5 second lead at the end and Rosberg's medium's were way older. I think one more lap and Ric could have got him or at least in a position to try and pass.

I'm bored of seeing LH win - I think I'd like to see Nico to take the title this year! I definitely think its been a better season than last year where LH had it all sewn up way before the end. The rise of Max V has certainly been good to watch.

Pitpass is reporting on comments made by a Liberty media exec.

1 - Increase pay per view coverage
2 - Bring in more sponsors
3 - More races (no, not bringing back the classics either)
4 - Monetise their digital content
5 - Gambling

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

So one vision of F1 2021 is Sky only, highlights only available via your $250/year 'F1.com subscription, sponsored by Hotels.com' to watch the 35 race calender for the 'Barclays F1 Driver of the Year, in association with CocaCola Championship'. Can't wait.

It's been a steady decline for me. Haven't watched a live race in a couple of years, but for the first half of last season I would always watch the highlights sometime in the following couple of days. Started to let that go in the second half of the season and this year I've probably only watched highlights for 3 or 4.
Strangely though I'm still interested in the ins and outs of it and keep up with the BBC F1 page, it's just the actual races that I'm losing interest in. What's up with that?
