Evening all,

Hopefully someone can help?

We are planning to fit a new boiler to the outside of our house to replace the old smoker that was fitted when we moved in. All pipework and power is in place ready for the new machine.

Which brands are considered good these days? I'm of a mind to get a premium brand with good spares and reliability, rather than the cheapest on the market. It is a conventional hot water system with storage tank etc.

Any recommendations?

Grant and Worcester Bosch are the ones that I know of. IANA(Plumber) but I think that material used in the burner can is relevant to their quality.
Rich.

Firebird and HRM are a couple of others but most engineers will recommend Grant or WB ime.

Ma and Pa Stoner just had a Worcester fitted. Neat bit of kit Actually sits in the boot room, although it's still the outdoor version. No complaints so far.

I have an HRM Wallstar. Means the chap can service it from outside and Margot doesn't need to put a copy of the Telegraph down for him to stand on...

It's been very reriable in the 8 ish years we've had it only needing a couple of services and a capacitor thingy for a few quid.

Got a grant - combi admittedly. 3 years old now

Only time its played up was when we had a powercut for days mid winter in snow and i didnt have enough antifreeze in the system for the temperature...

New prv needed. Simple to fit.

Parents have wb. Its now 15 years old and going well.

Had a firebird in here when i moved in well 2 actually , both made lots of noise and took for ever to heat the tank.
