If I want to have a column with the same date (quarter start date) in every cell, how can I do it. If I type it in the top cell then try to just pull it down it adds one day each time.

Hold down CTRL and drag down.

or put the same date in 2 cells, highlight both and then drag down - it will recognise that you don't want to add one each time
