Every time my kids eat a portion of mousse, I slowly point with an arched index finger and croak "the salmon mousse!"

...it reminds me of my first ‘grownup’ (intermediary) bike with 26” wheels when about 11yrs old. Dad was struggling at work (strikes) to keep food on the table so this was a total surprise and I went a bit weird with shock IIRC 🤣

Maiden voyage to local park. Left it on the grass and climbed a tree. Was admiring the candyapple red lustre of my prize Puch when some older kids came by and saw me in the tree. They started lobbing rocks. I was trying to climb down but the pebbles came fast and I had jump. Managed to grab my bike and do a running mount. As I gained ground one last rock hit the rear mudguard with a twang. Must have been some kind polished or chromed steel as it then had a rusty ding there for the rest of it’s days. A keen reminder that

1. Parks sucked but that
2. bikes are ace for a getaway.
