Long weekend in Nottingham
He said worth having....
An Airfix Saab Viggen
A Met Jetstream Helmet
Glow Worm X1 light (Tuesday Treats winner)
Still waiting for the Lotto.
A £4k Samsung TV at a charity auction in March.
It has yet to materialise….
A full SRAM CX1 Hydraulic groupset. My wife entered for me and didn't tell me until she got the email saying she'd won.
She hadn't quite realised that I then needed to build a new bike to put it on!
Tuesday treats off here about a year ago. A nice pair of POC knee pads - or rather two left sided POC kneepads that I wore a few times before I noticed 😀
Never did get round to getting in touch with the shop, but if anyone off here has two RIGHT side ones, I'd be please to swap one.
A very fancy looking Sony Ericson Smartphone, this was about iPhone 3G era and I think it might have been their first stab at it - I got it 2 weeks before the official release date and someone bought it off me for £500 before I even opened it.
A meal for 2 in our local pub, it came with such a long list of Ts and Cs I thought it would be a terrible miserly evening when they told me I couldn't have X or Y or have to buy a millions drinks or something, but it was actually very nice.
Not, 1, not 2 but 3! 1 day Surfing courses at Freshwater Beach just north of Sydney. The course promised you'd be standing up on the board by the middle of the afternoon, 3 times I did the course, not once ever did I manage to stand - I am to Surfing, what Mr. T is to indoor bowls.
An all expenses paid night in Celtic Manor for being awesome at my job, and on the night won an all expenses paid trip to London for being really awesome and a big bonus - I was made redundant 3 months later.
An MG TF 160R for a week, also for being awesome at my job, lots of bits fell off it, the best bits were the window swtiches which were identical to the ones in my 80's Golf - they didn't break.
25 quid on the lotto last week...
32 inch lcd tv back in 2007, our tv was about 20 years old and needed to warm up so it was a nice suprise
Some knee pads in MBR for a dislocated finger pic (they never sent me them though)
Ooh ooh, my gamecube! Charity raffle at work, the sort you really don't want to win because it's usually beans, or a bottle of vinegar wine, or something. Won a boxed gamecube with about 20 games, most of which were terrible but some of which were Rogue Squadron, metroid prime, zelda: wind waker, and SUPER MONKEY BALL!!1!
A wonderful wife and daughter, amazing what you can get if you win the life raffle. 😀
😀 Rules are rulesShe hadn't quite realised that I then needed to build a new bike to put it on!
I won a computer game. I found out a week after I had given up waiting and bought it.
I also won free flights for 2, a month before the airline went bust.

Beat me to it. 😀
The love of a good woman, several times in fact. 😉
Then unfortunately I had to shoot my father with a crossbow for sleeping with one of them. 😆
£50 of WHSmith vouchers for a 'tell us about your holiday' Eurocamp comp when I was 11.
A few games from entering comps in computer mags (C64 era).
A whole Jordan F1 car front wing at the British GP.
A helmet for a MBR photo comp.
A massive SMEG fridge freezer which I've never used, sat in my parent's garage!
Not loads but all worth having at the time.
I have a few cycling prizes from earlier years, but the best win ever was at the SSUK in Bristol (2006?).
I won an engraved USE Joystick. I love it, it's never far from me in the worksop or when out at night. 🙂
When I came in on my second last lap I saw there wasn't time to get another 2 laps in, so I grabbed a couple of beers and my camera and went around chatting to spectators and marshals, took a million pics, fell over a few times on the rooty bits trying to ride while drinking my beer, generally had a good time and arrived seconds before the deadline so that the lap counted.
I didn't know there was a prize for the slowest lap.
Now if only other race organisers were on the ball like Shaggy and crew, think of the prizes I could have accumulated since then. 🙂
A flight on a vomit-comet is probably the best thing, for winning a video competition.
My (then 7 year old) daughter won 20 pairs of brake pads at the bike and outdoor show about 6 years ago. I gave her GBP 20 for the lot and she was happy.
I'm still using them (at a much reduced rate once I moved to California).
Riding trip for 2 to gore nz to do the moonshine trail race
I won a Giro Xen lid a few years ago for having MBR star letter. Thing is, I didn't send them a letter, they just copied and pasted a forum post and didn't tell me it'd been published. I only knew when someone told me it was in the mag. Took a bit of badgering for them to part with the lid as well.
Won a scooter, second prize was a mountain bike and I thought it obnoxious to trade down. The scooter was baby blue 😳 and it would take 3 months to get a licence (Singapore) so I sold it.
@bikebouy sports prizes are always hard earned 😉 Had a mate who missed out on a Rolex in the Middle Sea race by less than 5 mins, he was quite rightly gutted not least as he did the race 2 handed against fully crewed boats. Had another acquaintance who chartered a maxi for the Fastnet, the boat won two Rolex's and the contract said they went to the owner, he was really mad !
@epic - love that story, my kind of prize.
I won a motorized go kart in a raffle draw when I was about 11. loved it, used to destroy our lawn at home with it for a few years then sold it on for about £750 when I was about 15!
I won a Toshiba tablet a couple of years back, for filling in a library survey at the university. Funny thing, I wouldn't have normally bothered, except that I was really upset with the library.
I won my photo printed on every 1:25000 OS map of Edinburgh from here until eternity*.
*or until the next refresh of covers, whichever is sooner
Won a few bits and bobs;
A football in a painting competition, sadly I never had much interest in playing football,
A Muddy Fox Sorcerer mountain bike through a bike magazine. Muddy Fox then got in touch asking me to pay up!
Took some work to convince them I'd won it, and they really needed to get in touch with the magazine; fortunately I had the covering letter I could fax to them. Muppets.
A week-long trip to LA, courtesy of Simon Bates on Radio 1; part of a promotion for the video release of the movie Hackers, a different question asked every day, you posted in the answers, and waited in vain.
Except several months afterwards a nice lady phoned me at work, to tell me I'd won this competition.
Having totally forgotten everything about it, I just said thank you, that's great, and left it at that, thinking I'd got a copy of the video, and maybe an embroidered crew jacket or something.
Alarm bells started to ring when she phoned back a couple of days later to ask when would be the best time for me to take time off work!
Great holiday, hire car and a trip round Universal Studios included.
A really nice embroidered wool directors type jacket, video, clock and other gubbins to tie in with the video release of Dracula, the Tom Cruise version, through a TV promotion.
Still got the jacket, haven't worn it for a while, I must dig it [s]up[/s] out some time... 😉
£250 share of a lottery win at work
A large PPI refund from Lloyds Bank
A Commodore VIC-20 for the highest score on "Galaxians" at a computer show
#NERD4LIFE
£700 on a £5 on two races a Cheltenham last year
Tickets to see Juliette and the Licks at Concorde2 in Brighton from that Zane Lowe bloke
A years supply of McCoys crisps
That's about it really, there's probably other stuff but nowt I can remember.
I won a top end BMC Granfondo and the chance to ride the full Tour of Flanders sportive on it. That was ace!
Loved every one of the 254km, and the bike is fantastic.
Oh and Mountain Mayhem at the weekend. That was pretty cool too.
Won £3k's worth of Global Ti/carbon hardtail back in 2005.
Couple of years later won a pair of Crossmax ST wheels.
Nowt apart from those. 🙂
You lucky duckers!
I won £1000 on a scratch card that came free with a Wild Bean Cafe coffee. I brought and built my Dialled Alpine with it. I was in love. Never looked back.
I won a T-shirt from “Land of mud and glory” for the best crash at this years QECP Day-Night Enduro. 😳
Very nice it is too. 😀
I won a Giro Xen helmet a few years ago in MBR. Still use the helmet pod that came with it. Other than that nowt'.
A day thrashing the (then) new MR2 Roadster and Celica round Millbrook
A proper running machine - took three of us to get it upstairs.....
About it though....
I won a champagne dinner for two at the Dorchester in a raffle at the Big Bang Ball. Not a bean from the ernie bonds I've had for a lifetime.
Won £300 tonight
Archie Stevens at Newbury 7/1 😉
I won a few hours skiing and lunch with Alberto Tomba at the Tamworth Snowdome.
An RC car
A weeks skiing and race training.
Back in my student days I won £40 worth of goods from a bakers in Glenrothes thanks to Kingdom FM, got the lot in a few big brown paper bags as I had to go back to uni. Did put a big of weight on that week....
Nothing apart from that.
I've just remembered another.
Was at the launch party for a new radio station in 2002(?). Won a date with Sharleen Spiteri (Texas) for that weekend, but I was travelling the next morning.
Slightly worse for wear and knowing that I had to get up in just a matter of hours, I sold it to someone at the party for £100. I was a skint student at the time so was actually quite happy with that amount, however I now regret it!
"Not a bean from the ernie bonds I've had for a lifetime."
I got 500 quid from them earlier this year. And 4x25 in the last 12 months !
I won a copy of theme park world when i was a kid
got 25:1 on 20 quid for cadel to win the tour bet placed about february.
Tense 3 weeks that was.
After the inaugural Huka Challenge at Taupo, NZ, my race number got pulled out of the hat and I won an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Thailand 🙂
Top prize was a $50,000 Holden Commodore, won by some 14-year-old whose dad would have been a very happy bloke for the couple of years until the lad was old enough to drive it!
Some cut glass Whisky tumblers engraved with first place from Trailquests. Won enough for a set of six. It always seems nice poring a Glenlivet Smith 12yrs into one and remembering the good old days. The days when bikes were about how far and fast with none of this technical stuff or even getting your wheels of the ground.
Won a few CDs from competitions on 106.1 Rock Radio.
Won a Montance Featherlite jacket (for Mrs NBT) and Bikemagic "Powered by Pies" cycling top (that I gave to Monksie for being a top lad and helping us move house) for photographs submitted to competitions.
Back In The Day I won a Tim March full face BMX helmet from BMX Bi-weekly
Won a week's ski trip in a "tenner a ticket" fundraiser for the GB kids ski team, drawn by Prince Andrew
Won a meal up to the value of £100 for being a good little employee - Went to Santini's in That London and had a lovely meal for £97 (starter each, main each, plus one bottle of beer - and that was in about 2003!). Lovely food.
Won a set of ResQSki electronic tags for powder skiing. Not fitted them yetm, any powder hounds got some nice skis they need to protect?
Won a Van Dessel t-shirt for picking the winner of one of this years classics. They had to send it from the states so they threw in a free water bottle. Good folks.
Just this week-
A new Helmet from Tuesday Treats on this very website 🙂
Persistence pays off!
200 Benson and Hedges in the primary School Raffle when I was seven
(that was a while ago...)
I've won some oakley's, champagne, t-shirts and some caps for spinning like a loon at rollapaluza... and that's it
Marin Rock Springs at Bike '99
Well chuffed; I was a student and riding a mish mash of cheap frame and cast off bits from friends.
