Has anyone used anyone other than eventbrite?

Costs of an event hosting module as we develop a new website = huge, and not as powerful it seems.

Eventbrite fees = more than many others, but reasonable once you compare others + PayPal.

Please suggest some - I am budgeting for a conference of 250-300 people at £350 per person.

We've been through a similar question.

Eventbrite has lots of really well thought out integration and people are used to Eventbrite. Even though we wanted to see what else was out there, Eventbrite was the logical choice and works.

We use eventbrite (for big events, but free so we don't have to pay). It's good but it does have occasional weirdness, like frinstance the way we set up our multi-part events, it won't let you add extra people to a booking so you can only set up a parallel booking if you (either as admin or punter) want to add another person. I don't think that's an issue with single ticketing though.

Have a look here -  https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/anyone-use-eventbrite-alternatives-gotchas/

Biletto seemed to be a viable option but the Eventbrite fees @ £0.49 + 6.5% don't seem too bad for what you get.
