Looking to head away to a European city for a weekend break.
I've travelled a bit, but never really to a city.

Any suggestions on where is good and not stupidly expensive?
First thoughts are Rome. Not fussed on Paris, but everything else is fair game.

Barcelona is beautiful. As is Krakow. Amsterdam?

So much choice - when are you planning to go?

I like Rome, beautiful place and you can get there quite cheaply as well.

London,

but there is a lot to see in Barcelona, it's cheapish to get to and the weather is usually OK. Never actually thought a whole city was nice, maybe Bergen, maybe I need to get around more.

Thinking of going in October, so weather might be an issue.

I'll look into Barcelona and the others mentioned, apart from London. No interest in going there at all.

Oh! Budapest, but only if you stay at the Gelert. Depends very much where you fly from too.

You can get a fantastic hotel in Rzeszow in Poland for dirt cheap. Food is good and not a common city break destination

Berlin.

Best place I've been to in many many years.

What are you into? Food? Art? History? Nightlife? All of the above?

My favourite city at the moment: Berlin, for being the creative capital of Europe, cheap(ish) and easygoing.
