Asking on behalf of a friend who wants to go off to Europe (somewhere warm) for a week to learn to sail. He has already done a short beginner course. I am talking dinghies here not yachts. Any recommendations?
My nephew works for Mark Warner as a dinghy sailing instructor in Greece. He's raced for years and has all the necessary paperwork. If he's representative of the people they employ then instruction is good.
Minorca sailing is very good, great location, large and varied fleet, but not cheap ...
Mark Warner and Neilsons are the obvious tour operators.
Boats are varied with Picos, Laser, Darts/Topaz for the catamarrans and then the bigger Bahias.
Certainly on the Neilsons website they list the kit they have at different resorts and also the expected wind conditions (i.e force 3-4 with the most relaible months June-Aug). Do not go to Sivota if you want to sail.
Agreed they are not cheap holidays (although I have had good deals previously) but they are just great fun.
