Wanting to drag my sadly underused (in recent years) snowboard out of the loft to go and have a play out in the hills. Anyone found any decent accumulations of snow about these parts yet? Thinking Goyt Valley, Hope and Edale valleys, is it worth it yet or am I going to drive out, wreck the bottom of the board on rocks hiding beneath a few mm's of snow and spend twice as long repairing the board as riding it?
Mate was up edale yesterday. Looked very sbowy on his faceache pictures!
Loads up at mam tor yesterday, we went for a walk over lockerbrook and there was a load up there as well.
I don’t know anything about boarding but there were plenty there on sledges 🙂
According to the Guardian, we have "Deep" snow!!!
Obviously they have a different meaning for the word 'deep' to the rest of the world. I would consider deep snow to be 2' minimum, they use 1-2" as a threshold.

Heavy snow is predicted for tomorrow night - so you may have enough on Weds morning!
Yeah, I've seen the snow forecast for tomorrow/Wednesday and I'm thinking Wednesday would work, just wondered if there was much lying snow about already for a bit of a base. Fingers crossed we get a reasonable fall.
How deep does the snow have to be so you can ski on it?
Typical, wife is working in Buxton Tuesday, I'm in Bamford first thing Wednesday. First week in ages we've been up in the Peaks for work. I hope all you snow boarders, mountain bikers and walkers are looking suitably miserable having to be out in the snow!
Thanks for the responses. Managed to get half a days sliding in yesterday with no board damage. Happy days.
