Agree with genesis - enjoyed the Twingo test.

Looked like a proper fun car!

Did they really need to destroy it? I'm just about to spend some of my hard earned on one for the wife.

Needless and wasteful.

It was a good test. I catch a few ferries, and I can see the Twingo is totally unsuitable for ferry users.

Never watch it as I think it's rubbish with a chav following-loo at the audience for a start... but I don't post on top gear brigrade posts and shout about it...except this one but it's rant about it.

Just ignore the crap aslongasithaswheels.

You're not alone but just stick to bike forum! Us proper riders are riding when flop gear is on anyway! It's like watching a group of teen girls following Take That...

Runs and hides and points at O.P. it was him! 😉

Whilst I do in-part agree, the fact that everyone is on about it can only be good for Renault. The cost of that 'advert' was mostly footed by the licence payer, and I would imagine that to build that car would have cost Renault very little in relation to the RRP.

No in my opinion. Its a Renault,it'd have fallen to bits in a few months anyway,so why not just wait??

Just back from the pub Zaskar?

Did they need to destroy the Renault? Compared to the total cost of the shoot the cost of the car would have been peanuts. Simple economics.

Dont know about the new twingo but the old twingo (the one that looks like a frog that's been thrown at a window) was awful to drive, horrifically unsafe both structurally and handling wise, and was as cheap as chips - I'd rather as many as possible were removed from the road!

But I think you're aiming that at the wrong people aren't you, the post was originally suggesting people moaning about TG should shut up, you suggest they take it elsewhere, then suggest that they are the planet destroyers - thats a whole load of confusion in one post!

highlight of the week for me is ensuring that any pages of the newsapaper with pic's of JC superstar are placed in the hutch exactly where the guinea pigs sh1t - i'm sure they appreciate this as much as i appreciate JC's playground humour

half the people who moan about it secretly love it!

i have to agree though, it is taking a 'slight' nose dive...

that twingo was great, but i'd rather the clio 197

I'm only here because I was wondering why such a dull thread had been bumped.
I can't stand Clarkson, May or Hammond. They just don't appeal to my sense of humour. Not particularly interested in cars (driving is the worst thing I can do with my time in this country), so I find it very easy not to watch Top Gear. And to ignore threads about it.
I will continue to do so.
That's all.

the trouble with top gear is that it used to be quite good & I keep watching in the vague hope that some goodness will once again appear, sadly there is not enough good stuff to warrant putting up with the "digging my finger nails into the sofa" content. Over & out.

You're doing a very good impression of someone who is not ignoring this Top Gear thread.

Those who've know me for a while would certainly vote me 'Person least likely to ever own a car, or even bother to learn to drive anything other than tractors', and yet...

I'm fascinated by Top Gear sometimes. A lot of the content of a show is mindless twaddle, willy-waving and mind-****ingly-boring stats about engine size and power and whatever, and yet...

I always watch it! Clarkson is some sort of anti-me: the exact opposite of everything I stand for, and yet...

That piece with the Twingo was absolutely enthralling. It was suitably lightly-entertaining with just the right amount of surrealism thrown in to make you question if you were still awake...

(Did they actually flip a car inside that tunnel...? If it was CGI it was quite good.)

I wouldn't worry about the cost of trashing that Twingo, Top Gear makes far more money than it costs to film it from selling it internationally.

I only watch it because other half does, but rather liked Guy Ritchie with his love of vans and bike riding...
