Well you can’t feel too sad when someone that age passes on, but it does feel she has taken a bit of history with her.

I just hope she/her memory won’t be used as a political tool.

What a life she had, lived through grim and happy times. Although it’s pretty grim now again.

Well, if it can, it will.
I assumed she’d been gone for decades tbh, i was surprised to hear today’s news.

Gawd bless her.

Forever immortalised by the Shamen as rhyming slang for Rizla.

I'm not sure that the rabid gammons who were out celebrating VE Day in their daft feccin' red trousers whilst conflating Brexit, Coronavirus and WWII would approve of the The Shamen's tribute to Vera. 😉

RIP Vera

There will a be a few, sadly only a few, very old men with a tear in their eye today.

Am I the only person who can't abide that song. Can't put my finger on it but it really makes my teeth itch.

103....that's a long time to be alive. Good work.

While I'm sad when anyone dies (103 isn't a bad innings though), its just ushered in yet another splurge of sepia-tinted world war 2 nostalgia and flag-waving from the gammons.

Just what we need

Boris, Cummings and co must be working furiously to see what other $hit they can announce today and Raab must be delighted that his gaffe is being kept out the headlines.

Pleased to see that it's still currently top of the front page for both the guardian and sky news sites...
