I know from a few threads ive seen that there is serious knowledge on the forum and I was hoping that I can get some advice regarding a dispute at work.
I'm currently on the last week of my notice period with a company and a significant order has come in. We have a percentage split on commission and the work that I have done is 70% so its enough to treat myself to some new bits for the bike or the misses for a weekend away.
My employer is dismissing my claim for commission here as I'm in the last week with the company after 14 years of service to not upset my colleague who I'm claiming from. I have it in black and white regarding the structure of commission plus the paperwork that confirms my involvement. Its worth about £500 to me - is it worth persuing legally or should i just let it go and look forward to my new job?

Does the words 'discretionary' appear anywhere in your contract in relation to commission payments?

If you are on good terms with them mention it 😉 Perhaps you lucky buggers getting my commission for not a lot of effort. Or just tell your boss that it's his problem to deal with other people but your contract says

This was my exact thought. I know on my contract any bonuses and commission is discretionary, it'd be unlikely we'd pay anyone comms who was leaving.
Agreed on the usual 'discretionary' clause.
Well if it's got discretionary in the wording I'd probably suggest to your boss that you will take this week off in exchange for it as the weather is so nice.

Either way, I'd get an agreement worked out before I lifted a finger. No commission no work, why let someone else profit when you could.

Never mind a weekend away and bike bits, you should if you play it well be able to get a new bike and a weekend break at centerparcs.
