Would like to update our old CU for a more modern MCB unit. any Sparks on here that could roughly quote for that and a new circuit install for an electric cooker. Labour only

Thanks

how could you get one done for £200?

quick google reveals the unit alone will cost you minimum 80.

I am only after Labour only. I can get parts for the job.

that's different, still struggle to get it done for 200 though as loads of testing required for that job.

assuming a periodic test of insitu circuits (so faults will be hopefully limited to new circuit) has been performed. looking at £400 tops?

you can fit modern type breakers to old fuse connectors.
simply swap them over.

£400 is pretty much the going rate. Usually a simple job, done in a couple of hours, however if you have dodgy circuits and borrowed neutrals, can take a couple of days on a large property

£400 is at the top end of the scale, the other cost to look out for is that the main bonding to the gas and water services is upgraded at the same time. This is often not done.

As a side note, fully certifying 5 houses a day PROPERLY should take about 3 hours per house ! Can't say I fancy working 15 hour days for £130.

Agreed if not longer if light fittings need disconnecting etc

5 houses certified in a day. What a joke. 4 hours minimum for an average size house. Your spark must be a mug, or is not registered. No way would you certify 5 houses for that money.
For a new cu..... Std price would be £350 supplied, fitted and full test. This would normally take 8 hours. Parts around £80, reg fees and cert time £20 so £250 for labour. Consumer unit changes are the best work for a spark. But you always worry about finding exsting faults.
