Boring request I'm afraid, but can anyone recommend an electrician in Cardiff before I trawl the yellow pages and hope for the best!

I'd actually like to help you, as we have had quite a bit of work done on our house over th last two years, and will be having more done. Problem is, the electrician we had in to do work in our kitchen was terrible.
We, too, will be in search of another electrician in the near future.
