Just done a speed check as its running a bit slow. 1.87mb!
I don't doubt that I could do another test at 03.00 and it'd be up to 32mb. I routinely get sub 5mb in the evening.
Do I have cause for complaint or is this to be expected at times of high usage?
If you're in an exchange that is saturated then you will see issues during busy periods but it shouldn't be that slow.
Is that speed test on cable or wifi?
I used to have similar issues on sky ADSL but no issues at all since being on the Sky Fibre package.
In the evenings, I'm currently getting about 1.5mb from my 60mb Virginmedia fibre. In the mornings it's typically 40-50mb, so I assume it's just getting overloaded at night. Trying to complain to Virgin is not a straightforward task...
You shouldn't suffer as much on Virgin as the contention ration is lower. I suspect you have a signal to noise ratio on your line the same as my Dad had when he had a similar issue to yours.
