Got family arriving tomorrow and I can’t pick them up so they need to get to Waverley for train down to us. It’s been years since I traveled between airport and city. Which is the best option nowadays? Express Airport bus used to be very good. Is tram now better?

Yep - super easy and tram is right at platform Level so dead east to get onboard with suitcases buggies etc. Contactless payment for tickets before you board. Ding ding

I've always found the Airlink bus to be quickest and I think it's a bit cheaper

Tram is good. Although they do charge a disproportionate amount extra for the airport. But better than the bus.

Bus is faster & I think cheaper, the tram is easiest if you have bags & don't know where you are going.

bus, every time, quicker, cheaper.

If they are going to waverly then neither the bus nor trams are at platform level

Bus every time. Tram is slower, more expensive and if busy you don't get a seat.

Not used the bus & only used the tram once. The tram pace is glacial. Fine if you have the time. Most folk using the tram take a book and some music. It takes it's time!

100 service takes you to south st david street, about 150 yards from waverley station.
Buses are having no trouble running on time just now, due to traffic being light.
Only reason to use the tram is you want to go on a tram. (That’s reason enough though)

Can they get a train to yours from Haymarket? That is a much easier transfer, the tram stop is right at the station and then misses the slow bit of the trip through Prince's street. The tram stop nearest Waverley is 250 metres away in St Andrews square.

Bus.
I did the tram once. At one stage it felt like folk were getting on at the back walking the length of the tram and getting of at another station at the front.
