Maybe I dreamt it, well had had a nightmare, but I thought I saw a trailer yesterday for Edge of Darkness staring Mel Gibson.

What spaktard thought remaking that would be a great idea!!?

Heh Mel, there's this iconic TV programme, it's aboslutely stunning, how'd you'd like to make a relly shitty piss poor imitiation of it, but we'll stick some bigger explosions and guns and stuff, and some sort of Jewish villian for you to kill.
Tell me it isn't so.

Watched the trailer of it last night. The only positive I can see is that Ray Winston is in it.

They haven't even kept the Clapton theme. Sacraledge.

Oh God no. How wrong can that be?

You can buy the Original on BBC DVD - it's still fantastic, and Joanne Whalley is still unbelievably beautiful, bubble perm and all.

It was the time of the preacher when the story began
Of the choice of a lady and the love of a man
How he loved her so dearly, he went out of his mind
When she left him for someone, she'd left behind

An' he cried like a baby
He screamed like a panther in the middle of the night
An' he saddled his pony
An he went for a ride

It was the time of the preacher in the year of 01
Now the preachin' is over and the lesson's begun

But he could not forgive her
Though he tried and tried and tried
And the halls of his memories
Still echo her lies

He cried like a baby
He screamed like a panther in the middle of the night
An' he saddled his pony
An he went for a ride

It was the time of the preacher in the year of 01
Now the lesson is over and the killin's begun

It was the time of the preacher in the year of 01
An' just when you think it's all over, it's only begun

Well watch out for the next "Hollywood" remake of a classic
British tv programme.

"Trumpton the Movie"

Nah, the next big Hollywood remake you want to look out for has to be Monopoly.

Watching that again at the moment. Superb stuff. The thread about the BBC's recent quality comes to mind. Long time since they made anything as good as this.

Made by the same creative powers behind the TV show. I've never seen the original but I'm looking forward to film. There are lots of trashy things at the cinema that deserve to be hated this isn't it, especially as you haven't seen it. Why not stay at home save yourself the aggravation of a cinema trip.

Did you miss the bit about Mel Gibson being in it?

I've never seen the original

Then you should do yourself a favour and watch it. Some of the most [url=

TV ever made* - perfectly captures the mood of the times (albeit with a somewhat supernatural element). Ace soundtrack, too.

(*warning: spoiler content... Darius Jedburgh makes his stand...).

That was a great programme, soundtrack was excellent too, Eric Clapton I think.
The black flowers bit at the end left me a bit confused, didn't really get that.

Strangely enough Traffic the movie was on earlier this week and that wasn't a patch on the TV version with Bill Patterson

The original series we excellent - hope the remake lives up to it. I wonder if they'll do the nightmare man again - that was scary!

Martin Campbell has directed it. He directed the original EoD TV series, Goldeneye and Casino Royale amongst others, so he has a better chance than most of making a good job of it.
