My son is looking at two potential bikes on ebay: a Trek and a Canyon.
The bikes are in the same price range as one another, and roughly the same level of spec. Both bikes have the same number of days left on the auction, neither have had any bids, and both are for sale with what appears to be a very high starting bid and a "make an offer" option.
Both sellers have 100% feedback but not many transactions, and it turns out they are both located in the same suburb of London. One bike is entirely photographed outside; the other is entirely shot inside.
So, in case you haven't guessed it, my question is this: is there some kind of scam going on? Or is this a way of selling bikes that someone profits the vendor? If it is the same person, is there a reason they would use two seller accounts? Is there a way of generating 100% feedback on a small number of transactions to make your history look legit?
I know it could be a colossal coincidence, or that it could just be two sellers living in the same house, but am I wrong in being just slightly suspicious?
London is a pretty big place !
I live in the borough of Barnet which goes to Camden all the way over to Enfield, brent etc
You're over thinking it
These two sellers are in Morden.
I probably am, but while I know each of the features I have listed on their own are minor, isn't the fact that they all coalesce the way they do a bit... well... remarkable?
You're probably right.

Nope.

I must have been infected by the mention of JHJ on the Tom Watson thread. 8o
I'm guessing it's two sellers. So many bikes on eBay at ludicrous prices and they were probably listed on a £1 fees deal which is why they were listed on the same day. Pop up the auction numbers if you like, but sellers rarely accept offers lower than their starting bid on auctions unless there's not long to go and no-one has bid.
Is it possible to download the photos and get the location from the meta data, or does uploading them to ebay wipe that out
