I'm watching an item on ebay that ends in a couple of hours. There have been 4 bids on the item, all from the same bidder.
No one else has made a bid
Am I missing something or is this a shill bidder?

He set his bid early and others have subsequently made a bid that doesn't trump his, so the amount he pays has gone up.
So:
A: Bids £50 (but obviously no one else knows that. Start prices is £10 so it appears as £10.
B: Bids £15. Bidder A is higher so it now appears as A: £16.
C: Bids £17. A is still higher so appears as A: £18. And so on.
What you see is:
A: £10
A: £16
A: £18
