Selling a printer - 99p start - no reserve, clearly state paypal or cash on collection and very clearly pick up only. It's a large heavy thing that would not travel well and worth less than £20.
So, it raises £17.50, won by a zero feedback chap in Coventry. I point this out to him after he wins and he replies
"Can I bank transfer or debit card - paypal not working and can a courier collect it all wrapped up please"........er no. would have been easier to take down charity shop and better kama.
What would you do? and am I missing an obvious scam?
I intend to try to cancel sale my end and go from there.
Just say no, then he'll cancel then you either offer it to the the second-highest bidder or relist.
I don't think it's a scam - I just think he didn't think it through.
Just hand it to the courier as is, the way you would if buyer collected.
if you have the money do you really care? the issue would then be between him and the courier if it goes wrong and outside of paypal limited ebay protection - you may wish to check the rules on that bit though
The money is quite unimportant - I simply wanted shot - it's £17.50!
I must come across a bit grumpy - but collect in person only means collect in person and paypal or cash means the same as the words on the screen.
Just relist it. May be a scam, may not, best not to encourage people to bid outside the terms.
Just stick a hammer through it and tell him it's not longer for sale.
Just email him clearly stating the facts as per the original eBay ad,if he cannot collect them you will have no option but to cancel the sale as you did clearly state in the advert it was for collection only.
Unovolo - done exactly that.
