This is not a plug. I'm just not sure what is the best way to get the highest price I want. Have no lowest bid? Or have the lowest bid as the absolute lowest amount I'd accept? I'm so new to all this lol.

What about the 'buy it now' price. Should that be significantly higher than the amount I expect to get at auction? I had it at 590 but have raised it to 640. Realistically, 600 is the absolute lowest I'm hoping to get for them.

All prices are in euros 😉 .

Cheers 🙂

Unless you're in a hurry to sell why have a BIN price? just let the auction run.

Get rid of the auction bit, just do buy it now or best offer. Someone'll buy it (eventually).

My thinking was that the BIN price would tempt people in to buying it if they don't want to wait? But I can see how it might backfire. Not sure....

Are you speaking as a veteran eBayer there? 😀

Ebay member for fifteen years.

But if you want to get six hundred for it, then why have you got it on as an auction, where it could go for four hundred (if no one else bids).

But it now or best offer, thirty day listing, auto relist if it doesn't sell. Someone will buy it.

Isn't that what reserve prices are for?

In my (humble) opinion reserve prices aren't worth it. People want to bid thinking they'll get a bargain and a reserve will put them off. Then the red mist settles in the last few seconds and prices rocket as they become almost attached to that item.

The riskiest but most lucrative is 99p starting price and run the seven day roller-coaster.

Unless in a desperate hurry though, in your case I'd maybe try a buy it now with best offers. Just bear in mind you will likely get stupidly low offers and no-one in their right mind will pay the full whack so price accordingly.

Do an advanced search for the prices others have sold for. This should be your price guide.

No expert on the item in question but I think your 600 Euros might be optimistic 😉

As above, do a search on what you are selling and tick "sold items" and "completed items" to see how much money other people are getting (or not getting) for the same thing.

If you want to sell something and you want to make sure you get a certain price, go with buy it now - or best offer. You can set a limit to automatically refuse offers under a certain amount so you don't even know about the cheeky lowballers.

High starting price and reserve price don't work IMHO.

I look at an item and if I just want to get rid of it because I will never use again, and it is just taking up space in the house then I list it with auction, 99p start. It is risky but usually works. Having said that I sold a brand new set of bars&stem for £1.40 last month and the guy even gave me a negative feedback because I took too long posting them 😀

If the item has sentimental value or I would be sad to see it go for a very low price then I list it with buy it now.

Hoping people will get carried away and start out bidding each other. Am I being too optimistic ❓ . Currently on 422 with 33 people watching. But is there any formula or equation to show how many of the watchers will actually place a bid?! 😉

I always do this and 99% of the time I am happy with the final price I get.

Don't think I have the bottle for that! Lol!!!

I paid over 1100 euros for it new at the end of January, only been used for just over six months. So I highly doubt that 600 euros is being 'optimistic'.

That one.

Although I always do ten day auctions to give a bit more exposure.

I rarely sell stuff that will go for £100+ though, so my tolerance to risk may be higher than yours.

Edit: current price / bidders / time remaining = reasonable chance of getting 600 euros. All the action is (usually) in the last 5 minutes, especially if you have a few bidders already and a good number of watchers.

Not great news on selling the new bar and stem for 1.40!!! 😳 . Many others had to part with things for way less than they wanted?

Very rarely.

Even with the £1 / no reserve method.

Ebay is so far reaching that you almost always achieve a fair sale price given the right type of sale.

99p start, no reserve, no buy it now, seven day auction, make sure it ends at around 8pm on a sunday night when most people will be home. If its well short of what you want with a couple of minutes to go then pull it.

Your biggest problem is that P2M are currently doing that entire setup for 799 Euros so 600 for second hand with no warranty (3D+ cranks are made of cheese) is a bit of an ask.

Yeah but no but yeah but some people just go to ebay and don't do their own research. YMMV, etc.

Yes, sometimes but it's just the flipside of all the stuff that sells for more than you expected, you've got to take the good with the bad.

I sell shitloads of stuff on ebay but the average price is only about £15. I really like the auction format, but these days I'm almost entirely BIN- it means slower sales for higher values for me and that's definitely worth it.

Personally, I do BIN on eBay when I want a specific price for the item, however there are higher fees from eBay for this so I have to work it in.
Generally on lower cost items 99p start is your best bet and if it doesn't reach near where you want to be (cost vs number of watchers) 48hrs before the auction ends, pull it.

If you get £600 for them don't forget you'll loose £60 of that to eBay. If P2M are doing them same item for 799 then it's very unlikely you'll get 600 at auction and you'd be better off with a BIN.

TBH you'd be better off trying to sell on forums 1St and use eBay as a last resort.

The biggest problem I get with auctions is that the winner doesn't pay so you waste a week opening a case before being able to relist.

I favour Buy It Now with "immediate payment required" ticked. Cuts out any nonsense
