First world problems and all that......

just sat down for an afternoon cuppa and cracked open my malteser egg the kids gave me. Scoffed the  maltesers pronto then decided to start on the egg itself and it is the thinnest egg I have ever seen. I remember when I was a kid whacking the eggs to break them up, but this one I could poke a hole in with my finger.

When did they become so thin?

Picked up a malteser egg in Tesco because it was half price. Not wishing to devalue your gift but it was less than the cost of a packet of maltesers (which it comes with) so the egg was effectively free. With that in mind, yes it's thin, but good value for money. Wife was given a hotel Chocolat egg from her step mum. Now that is thick. I'm sure it was priced accordingly (although apparently there is a healthy NHS discount)

It's not thin, it's delicate and refined. Artisan, if you will.
Easter eggs are made made of swizz, unless special offered.

I had a dairy milk Oreo egg and thought the egg itself was pretty thick. Nothing inside though.

the only trouble with easter eggs is, before or after roast lamb dinner. I'm sooo stuffed!

I always used to try and get their ostrich eggs in the sale, pricey but definately rather nicer than the tat the childhood eggs seem to have become.

This is where supermarkets' "price per kg" shelf labels come in handy. I was eyeing up a Thornton's egg, but not at 17 times the £/kg of a Dairy Milk. Watch out for the bastards that come with mugs though.

I can confirm it’s very past its best

They've been past their best whilst very much still in date for a few years now.

I also have a ‘heritage’ Maynard’s wine gum Easter egg (with a Cadbury’s egg) so I will see if it fairs any better.

One of the kids got a Lindt Bunny today. Quite small but seriously this chocolate, they didn't scrimp on those.

TBH Being a child of the 70’s I had the choice of an egg or a Star Wars figure.

So I’d go with my mum on the bus to pick one the Saturday before Easter 🙂
