Two sons working in walk in CV19 testing centre are reporting a month of 5-20 'customers' a day, now risen to 70-90 last few days and over 100 by lunch today 🙁

As I've said a few times now, we will be in a position where cases won't be the measure, it'll be hospitalisations and deaths. We were in a position previously where cases very quickly meant the other 2 followed, but we should get to a position where cases don't mean the inevitable.

It's entirely understandable that there is a reluctance to rely on this at present though.

Totally agree Nobeer.

I see from todays cases that Moray should be in level 2 again now. Hopefully from Monday 😎

There’s probably loads of factors tbh, as there is in any rise or dip, but keeping an eye on my local numbers, South Ayrshire (and the other 2 Ayrshire authorities) there was a bounce, schools weren’t a factor as they never started back til after that.

Schools began a phased return - P1-3 and senior pupils with practical work to do went back 22nd of Feb - about 2 weeks before some of those areas started seeing an increase in numbers. I'm not saying the transmission was in the schools - just the fact schools were going back meant parents mingling at the gates, the general message to society etc.

If you actually look at the data though I don't think it links properly - N.Ayr and E.Ayr were rising before the 7th March and S.Ayr was rising from the 7th Mar (so 0 incubation period). I'd love to be able to blame them for a delay but the data doesn't really back it up.

As I’ve said a few times now, we will be in a position where cases won’t be the measure, it’ll be hospitalisations and deaths. We were in a position previously where cases very quickly meant the other 2 followed, but we should get to a position where cases don’t mean the inevitable.

Cases alone have never been the measure, much to Edinburgh's disgust back in December! The emphasis from Jason Leitch today seemed to be that there was quite a large population in Glasgow, who are clinically vulnerable or >50 who haven't been vaccinated with first dose despite invitation. So there will be a concern that the link between cases-hosp-death is not broken yet.

Whilst I've seen the numbers actually vaccinated by area, and age group I don't think we've seen the numbers invited and declining/failing to attend. I think that might be revealing.

Where did you see this? Everything I’ve read (apart from something I happened to see in the Daily Record, and who believes that? 😉 ) has said no travel to/from level 3 areas from level 2.

It said that on the guidance page before the friday announcement. Of course now that there's a difference in levels it's no longer the case. We're now back to the 5 mile rule. Call me selfish, reckless etc, but I'm not sure how much I'll follow it. The idea of not being able to walk, cycle, or see friends/family outside glasgow for the forseeable future is painful. I'll happily test before I go.

Hmm, if this is the way it goes it could be a tricky few months for younger unvaccinated /single shot vaccinated folks who aren't keen on testing their luck with long covid.

We’re now back to the 5 mile rule.

Where'd you see mention of a 5 mile rule this time?

@Poly aye, lots of factors, forgot about p1-3 going back early. Though the league celebrating started at least a week before your date, that was the date it was mathematically over.

Thanks, I notice Scottish cycling left that out of their guidance this time, I did query it but got no reply.

I really feel for the hospitality trade folks in all of this, they've had a really shitty end of the stick. However, my radio is in danger of being booted about every time that arse end of a man that owns the Garage etc in Glasgow is on radio scotland.

Can I drive through Moray (without stopping) on say the A96 to get to the shire from highland?

Avoiding it means a detour via Dunkeld and adds 4 hours to round trip (in a day...)

I was thinking that going via the Lecht minimised things significantly (and misses Elgin which is the epicentre).

just wondering about the legality....

I think every time I've heard him speak the chances of night clubs opening in Scotland just got delayed further... I've not noticed him for a while - is he still in the night clubs are safe we should be allowed to open tomorrow with no restrictions mentality? He'd make a lot more progress if he switched his view to "crowds of drunk people in close proximity is clearly a covid risk, how can we mitigate that and support the arts and younger people". I don't think he's so hard up that he's had to sell his helicopter though is he?

@Poly I hadn't heard him for a while, after such gems as his nightclub had more air changes than any where else you cared to mention, and his golden nugget - No other body has ever done more for alcohol problems than the Glasgow licensing trade.

The weegie Trump.

Worse, Trump never had Psycho Dalek as a support act once never mind as a defacto house band.

As much as I miss going out I find it difficult to miss the Catty. The Garage even less so.

As long as you put the aircon on "circulate" it's fine.

It’s true - just not in the way he implied! Nobody has ever done more for the EU than Nigel Farage either!

But he must be credible as a source of information on the music industry because he got an MBE, and it’s not like they are given out to Tory party donors or anything? Every one of them is earned.

I see a Policeman is being disciplined for being filmed in the middle of the George Sq celebration. Are there not tests for intelligence/common sense before joining the police any more? That will be an interesting atmosphere in the van next shift bearing in mind there were 20 police injured.

"Whats that; Mad Eck has taken his own bodyweight in crack and barricaded himself in the room he keeps his machete collection? We have just the boy for the job."

Bit rich when the entire force facilitated the march into George Square no? 😆

Steven Gerrard and his Rangers players' actions have been branded "disgraceful" by Police Scotland for their "display of encouragement" after they celebrated beating St Mirren earlier this year.

Daily record is going with that the day. Right ye are Mr policeman. We kinda seen what you did too, twice. A shambles all round. 😆 we expected nothing less.

I'd expect a rangers statement saying it wisnae our fault either, soon enough. 😆

Escorting the crazies away from Ibrox and dumping them in George Square is not quite the same as being one of the crazies themselves! Surely not a surprise though that if there were 15000 angry white men waving union flags in glasgow that some of them would be serving cops?

Allowing them to get near Ibrox or George square in numbers in the first place facilitated it. No exactly difficult to block of some routes. They could easily have blocked streets or stopped public transport preventing gatherings in the first place.

Tbh I don't particularly care but the abdication of responsibility all round is just amusing.

I'm hoping we (Moray) get news that we'll be moving down to level 2 on Monday, we're at 36.5 per 100k as of yesterday. A pint indoors would be lovely, especially in this weather 😉

yes, the legislation specifically permits passing through a Level 3 area to get from Level 2 to Level 2.

we were having a discussion about this in our house this morning, abouttravelling through glasgow.
I thought the above was the case, but can't find reference to it here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-travel-and-transport/
only 'In Levels 0,1 and 2 you must not travel to an area in Level 3 or 4 except for a permitted reason.'

traveling through isn't given as a permitted reason.

I think I'm missing it somewhere.

I think you are missing it somewhere........ Halfway down the linked page.

"Permitted reasons for travel in Level 3 (Glasgow City and Moray)
The regulations permit travel to or from a Level 3 area if you have a reasonable excuse. They also let you travel through a Level 3 area to somewhere else. In doing so you should take additional care, especially if travelling by public transport (see section below) and minimise contact with others."

traveling through isn’t given as a permitted reason.

Restrictions on entering Level 3 area
14.—(1) A person who does not live in a Level 3 area must not enter or remain in that area.

[F43(2) But a person who does not live in a Level 3 area may travel through it in order to reach a place outwith the area.]

https://invitations.vacs.nhs.scot/

If you've not had your vaccine yet, you can fill in this form and you will get a text telling you when it's scheduled and also your unique username, which you can then use to reschedule your appointment (potentially to an earlier date).

It’s the kind of place that time has stood still, consequently I reckon I could get through it and out the other side before I even entered it... 🤪

I’m struggling to remember exactly where it stops and starts going over the Lecht...

Looks like there was an issue with getting the vaccination numbers in the Hydro over the weekend

Covid: Half of appointments missed at Glasgow mass vaccine hub

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-57228041

The BBC understands that the number of missed appointments at the Hydro was higher on Sunday than on Saturday.

The Scottish Conservatives suggested there may have been an issue with people receiving their vaccination appointment letter on time while the Lib Dems pointed to younger age groups who they said "move frequently" and have less contact with their GP.

My first vaccine letter went to an old address that was changed (when I moved GP) several months ago.

It could believe that's the reason why. My friends and I are early 30s/late twenties and while I know my appointment is the week after next because of the link posted earlier in the thread, and my friends know they have appointments next week, none of us have had a letter through. Surely the GPs also have a mobile number in their records they could text the appointments to?

I don't think it's the GPs that are arranging the appointments / sending out the letters. But I could be wrong.
