Daughters 13th party in a couple of weeks and she has asked for a photo booth style thing for her friends to get dressed up and take photos. My wife is taking care of the dressing up stuff, I need to arrange the tech. We have phones, ipads and normal cameras, do not currently have a printer.  I did think about buying a Polaroid and then I say the prices! So looking at iPad app and printer as most likely option.

Has anyone done something similar and what dis you use?

Upload them all to Instagram or Flickr or somesuch and let the kids download their own copies to their phones. They'll never look at a hard copy photo anyway. It's all digital now.

The problem is that I am cheapskate and refused to hire a real photobooth saying we could do it ourselves way cheaper. Given the real booth included printing, I should try and do the same

You'll need a laptop to do the editing (sticking photos into a strip or whatever you choose to do) part of the process.

Google free photobooth software, there's plenty of option that'll interface with a DSLR, then just get something like a Canon Selphy printer (although they're not especially cheap,and neither is the paper), or some photo paper and lots of ink for your normal printer if it'll do good enough quality prints.

I forgot to say, printer will need to connect directly to device as no router in the village hall.

I keep toying with one of these, looks a cheap way to get hard copies of fun snaps.  B/W only though and I'm not sure how great the print quality would be...

Some on eBay too, slightly cheaper and should be quicker delivery;

Doesn't mention printing, but this looks like a nice DIY setup if you have a locker going spare.
