Any free software to download or can anyone convert them for [s]me[/s] my son?
B
Use draftsight, or if you can't be arsed downloading & installing, mail me them and I'll convert.

Why do you need to go from dwg to dxf? Most CAD s/w will open both.
'Draft sight' is a free download from the makers of Solidworks and is effectively a free version of AutoCAD LT (2D only).
I use it a lot. Its not as slick as the AutoCAD but for free it is really good.
son has done a project on innovator but I tried to get the file printed on A3 paper at work but CAD operator says their system cant open them. suggested that he converts them to dxf file.
does that make sense?

I assume you probably mean Inventor?
If it wont open at your work, it's likely just to be a version issue.
I assume you probably mean Inventor
aye thats it.
Public sector so its possibly a version issue.
so would draftsight convert it?
I think Inventor will 'save as' an older file type, CAD monkey should then be able to open them to print.
yep, for sure - will open all versions of DWG and DXF IME, and save as previous versions too.
Hmm Luddite father is failing with this, will wait til school child come home 😕
not opening at all

there as well WTF.....
send me the DXF (mail in profile) and I'll convert to an earlier DWG for you.

YGM back. It's more complicated than a simple conversion!
