When my wife (yes - honestly) bought her car it didn't have a spare wheel (no I didn't think to check!).
Now apparently we need one for this coming weekend.
Do I just need the tyre size or is there some other measurement that I should have in order to not look like a dick when I try and buy one?
If it is important the car is a Ford Focus Cmax (diesel), tyres are 205/55/R16.
Thanks
Matt
get thee to a scrap yard specialising in ford parts
show them car
get wheel
That's it really, ensuring that it's the same nut pattern. Are they all five nuts these days?
You'll need the PCD as well. Focus is 5x108 according to t'internet.
Get on fleabay for a 5x108 16" wheel with tyre. Should be cheap enough. I recently got 4 wheels with good tyres for £50.
offset, pcd of the bolts, load rating and width of the wheel.
Thanks guys. I'll start looking.
[Edit] Yes it's five nuts, I'm guessing the PCD is a similar measurement to chain ring bolts.

is there actually somewhere to *put* a spare wheel? it might have just been meant to come with a space saver or a can of foam.
A full sized spare wheel (based on that tyre size) will almost certainly not fit in the car. A quick google suggests they're all spare-wheel-less, and ford garage can sort you out with a space-saver spare and a jack. Remember there's not much point in a spare wheel if you've not got a jack and a wrench to put it on 🙂
5lab is on the right track I think. Give a local Ford dealer a ring and ask!
if its anything like my Ford Fiesta then most newish cars do not come with a spare wheel, just a can of foam. as a spacesaver / weight reduction
later ones have a void for a spacer saver (thin 50mph emergeny tyre and wheel) but instead come with a puncture kit.. in a bag - tin of foam and a small air compressor that plugs into your fag lighter..
your lcal ford dealer might be able to sort you out with a space saver from an earlier year of CMAX or other ford.
You might also find if yours has the puncture kit you also have no jack.... as with the kit you are meant to fix the puncture and have no need to take the wheel off... if you get a wheel make sure you have a jack and a wheel brace as well!
Skinny space saver tyre was an option on the C-MAX. Not sure if a full sized spare will fit in the wheel well.
Looks like you need Ford 1361677 or 1713584 wheel at £77.32. Add the cost of the tyre to that. Give Ford a ring.

Might I enquire as to why you need one? Many cars don't some with a spare wheel these days, but a can of foamy tyre inflator/puncyure fixer instead.
why .. do you need one this weekend?
