I am painting our hallway next week. Its a very very big room 5m x 6m x 3.5m
On the stairs I previously used Dulux Trade Matt Supermatt. It went on very nicely, but when it dries you can almost see the lines of where its been rollered on, even keeping a wet edge.
Are there any better alternatives? I can currently get the supermatt for £40 for 10l

Spendy but worth it
I've just finished painting 7 rooms in a house one of our mob has bought. What made the job easier and betterer was the purchase of a Purdey 18" roller, 15l scuttle (plus liner bags) and pole. You can do the main bits of a room in minutes. Much recommended. Having two points locking in the roller makes it easier to apply equal pressure for better coverage and an improved finish.
Lines in your paintwork suggest uneven pressure on the roller.
My fav matt emulsion is Crown Clean Extreme. I prefer it to Diamond Matt.
I tend toward Dulux Easy Care Pure Brilliant White. Goes on well and is VERY scrubable, so easy to clean up.
Stairs are tricky as you get closer to the wall than most other places, have longer roller runs and typically a light source at the far end.
The closer to 180 degrees you get to the wall, the more you see those lines that you almost certainly wouldn't see when looking at 90degrees.
Definately ways to mitigate, 18" roller is the most "life changing" of paint tools. Especially if you're painting 12ft walls. Could also get some extender mixed in to slow your lap flash

Personally in a hallway I'd use a dulex diamond matt or another trade brands hardest wearing matt.
I think Armistead (Dulex owned) produce a diamond matt which is a lower cost trade paint. I've used it in rentals - good paint.
Always Armstead. Local trade shop recommended it to us, said it is Dulux without the baggage, so cheaper. The wife, she buys Valspar from B&Q and then complains that it takes a billion coats to go on.
Our kitchen is down in Armstead Matt white, was done 18mth ago and still looks fresh as a daisy.
