So was out today and found a duck egg sitting on its own with no sign of a nest with a 20ft radius. It was grassland area with a pond 40ft away.

Did not touch or move the egg and left it where I found it but think that maybe I should have picked it up and taken it home where I would rig up a light bulb etc and nurse it to good health

Could go back and get it. What should I do? and am I over thinking?

Your overrthinking it, id say you did right by leaving alone.there may be a reason it was left behind.

You could try and grow your own duck or you could make a balut if you feel like being gross.

Leave it.
Ducks are imprint birds, so you would have ended up being mummy for the rest of its life. Which is no life for a duck.

Eaten it - maybe.

I made a 3-egg omlette with duck eggs today, was great. Hope this helps, D.

If the duck has abandoned it, then it's still going to provide a decent meal for a fox, hedge-hog, weasel, stoat etc.
